Hands-On: Some Quick Thoughts On The New Rolex Air-King Versus The New Explorer (Live Pics, Official Pricing)
The most interesting, or I should say curious, introduction from Rolex this year is the Air King reference 116900. First, I never really expected to see an Air-King at all ever again after the new Oyster Perpetual was brought out last year, but here it is. And on top of that, the Air-King is back in, frankly, a semi-foreign form as a 40 mm, anti-magnetic aviator's watch with a multi-color logo. We'll get to that, so let's first talk about the brand new Explorer, which is a really similar watch, also introduced this year, that, in my opinion, will be often compared to the new Air-King. The Rolex Explorer Reference 214270 1 OF 4 The new Explorer features new luminous applications and longer, wider hands for better legibility. So the new Explorer reference 214270, as introduced here on HODINKEE last week, is very much the same as the outgoing iteration of the same reference with its Oyster Perpetual case at 39 mm, 100-meter water resistance, and in-house caliber
What do you think?
I've posted this before but didn't have the photo ready.so I might be picking up this one in a couple of weeks and planning to make these changes, along with a rose gold buckle. What do you all think about it? Adding original one for reference.Any idea about the cost of crown, lugs, and buckle?
Omega Speedmaster should the large second hand always be running?
Hello, I have finally decided on the Speedmaster, 38mm. Could someone tell me if the large second hand should always be activated or only running when you are using the chronograph to time something. I have heard that you should only run the large second hand when you are time something but I have also heard it doesn't matter and running the large second hand all the time will not harm the watch. Thank you all for your assistance
2 new entry level models
Don't think they've been posted here beforeEta movementSpring barsSnap backWhat do you think, good or bad idea that Panerai launches a bunch of cheaper watchesSome say good because they still need to sell and the luxury market is in a difficult situation todayOthers said bad because a luxury brand should stay expensive and thes watches are more in the Tudor range than the Rolex range
