Ball and BMW Team Up For New Watch Collection
Ball Watch Company, whose history is rooted in the early days of train travel, has taken its watchmaking talents from the rails to the roads, collaborating with German luxury automaker BMW to introduce a new line of watches, called Ball for BMW. The Ball for BMW collection, whose development has been headed up by noted BMW designer Magali Metrailler, is heavily influenced by the aerodynamic lines and ergonomic details of BMW cars and their engines. The line is composed thus far of the Classic, a three-hand model with date; the GMT, with second time zone; and a Power Reserve model. All the watches have automatic ETA movements that have been certified as chronometers by COSC.The watches feature alternating polished and satin-finished surfaces and screw-down crowns that evoke the detailing on BMW dashboard knobs. Alternative Speedmaster Bezel
I like to fiddle with perfection. What if Omega put a rotating bezel on the Speedmaster Pro, somewhat like a diver's bezel, but with a nice clean representation of 60 units, without any 15 minute emphasis as on a diver's bezel. This would allow the user to move the zero of the bezel to the minute hand, and then time two events, perhaps one precision event and another non-precision event.I wonder about this because I have had a chronograph in the past with a tachymeter, and I used the function once or twice to check my automobile spedometer, but otherwise, the tachymeter bezel has no use for me.On the other hand, I fly an EMS helicopter for a living, and I sometimes have two events to time, neither of them really requiring split second precision; but, with a rotating 60 unit bezel, I could time both of them easily by rotating the bezel to the minute hand for one event, and using the chronograph function for the other event.I really don't expect Omega to change the Speedmaster bezel.I just
Rolex USA communication to ADs
Apologies if this has already been posted, but I just came across this letter from Rolex USA to ADs. Ironically, I found this note when a grey dealer in Hong Kong posted it on his WeChat feed to let customers know that the new watches he sold would increasingly not have stickers! If Rolex in Asia has not issued a similar decree, I would expect the local premium grey dealers charge for new, stickered 888 (Hong Kong) watches will increase.
What is your favorite yellow gold Rolex?
If you were to have one steel Rolex and one YG Rolex in your collection which would you chose? . I would probably pick the 116618 in blue or black for the glide lock. Here are a couple of my favorite google pictures of those models.
