So I paid a visit to my trusted ad and while discussing the 5980 and 5960 he shows me this from the back. Obviously I am one track mind... patek always. But it was a an interesting choise and cheaper.
Tried on my Grail today and a ND SS Sub
Just went to one of my AD's and they had the 116618LB in stock .Also had a ND SS Sub , SS Sub Date they just sold yesterday I was told . Had the Platona as well ...Last pic is my SD4K... What do y'all think ? Does the PM LB Rock or what ? I'm thinking my SD4K looks better than the ND Sub as far as SS goes...
Rolex-Marketing genius?
It is a while since I browsed the forum.I return and find the whirlwind once again around steel sports models.When I bought my first Rolex a 5513 (wish I still had it now) around twenty years ago,a Steel sub date had an 18 month waiting list and a steel Daytona 7 years!!Things did change over the years,You did see steel ceramic sub dates in dealer windows now and again and the steel Daytona list got down to a month at a dealer I use.We are now fortunately well out of a double dip recession and Rolex is again doing what I believe it does best,engineering it's own hype.It is my belief that Rolex is limiting supply on the steel sports models to create the position it was in twenty years ago.The general publics perception that what they are buying is illusive and they have to be on a waiting list only increases the value of the piece in their eyes.Low and behold the release of the new Daytona(fortunately for me,a watch I don't lust after).It would surprise me if the ceramic model hasn't be
