Ancon Sea Shadow Hands-On
It's always fun to find a brand you've never heard of, though for us, it happens less and less these days. So, when I stumbled upon Ancon watches a few weeks ago, I was extremely excited. A quick glance revealed over-sized, over-built tool watches with looks akin to war machines, not your average desk diver. A deeper inspection revealed that the watches were a mix of familiar elements, well-tuned colors and interesting detailing that when combined created watches that were simultaneously charming and fierce. Like an antique weapon, there is something sculptural and entrancing about them, but underneath, the aggressive intentions are still apparent.The inspiration for the watches is the USS Ancon AGC-4, which was a modified commercial passenger-cargo ship meant for carrying troops that saw a lot of use in WWII. Sell my two Rolexes for a Nautilus?
So, I think the PP bug has bitten me. I just got the 5167a (as you my hv read my last post) and really enjoy it. Now, I'm thinking nautilus too, as the SS bracelet wold nicely complement the rubber on the 5167a. However, I feel that if I get the nautilus there would be too much aesthetic overlap with my Rolexes - white SS Daytona and GV. Essentially, the stainless bracelet, PCL, etc, all combine to create a very similar overall look. So, two part question:1) should I sell the Daytona and GV to fund a nautilus. I'd be left with my 5167a and a yellow dial Breitling SuperOcean (beater). Or, just save up for the nautilus. Or, maybe just relax a little and wait it out?2) if I proceed, which nautilus? Panerai production vs rolex
Can anyone define panerai productions vs rolex. Rolex floods market in nyc. I want a great daily watch, not sure which direction to go, have tried several on, have my search narrowed to a 39mm exp1, stainless daytona black dial and a panerai. At some point I will purchase a royal oak, as wel as a panerai at some point, just what is a good first.
