Greubel Forsey & Philippe Dufour Present Le Garde Temps Naissance dUne Montre Project
The centuries-old traditions and?know-how in?horology, as awe-inspiring, interesting, and technically unique as they may be, are feared to be soon forgotten, as?the newer generation C the much needed "fresh blood" C is hardly motivated to consider taking the long road that leads to them understanding, practicing, and hence, preserving these?invaluable assets. It is with this reason in mind that Greubel Forsey and Philippe Dufour conceived the?Le Garde Temps Naissance d'Une Montre project that was officially launched in 2012?C?the fruit of an "obsessional desire to research, record, and transmit the techniques involved in traditional handmade watchmaking."Images courtesy of Le Garde TempsWe may as well stop right here for a moment. Found: A Rolex Explorer I With A WHITE Dial, For Sale At Christie's Geneva
I love the Rolex Explorer I.? It's the little brother in the Rolex sports watch family, it was my first Rolex, and regularly it gets left out of the all the mega-Rolex hoopla that we so often see at auctions with rare versions of Daytonas, Subs, and GMT's bringing in big bucks.? So, when we opened up the Christie's Geneva May catalog and saw the watch here, we knew we had to cover it.? It is a seriously rare watch, and it happens to be an Explorer I.Dating to 1958, this is a reference 6610, the predecessor to the commonly seen 1016.? The case is in fantastic shape with nice thick lugs, and everything on this guy is original...including its WHITE dial.? Yes, white.? As many of you know, Submariners, GMT's, and Explorers all come with black dials.? Except when they don't.? You see, from time to time, the very odd white dial sport watch shows up, and some cry foul, and others cry glory.? Eric Ku showed us a completely legitimate white dial Sub here, and there are rumors that executives at

My first Omega......
Got this earlier today..speedmaster ref 145.022 69stIt's got the rare caseback, and is now fitted on a brown vintage leather strap :-)Only downside is the newer service-hands.. But the old original hands was included and I just need to make the swap!Don't really know how rare these casebacks are.. does it increase the value of the watch significantly? Saw one on chrono24 at 4k USD...
A little hooked on the PO 2209...
Hi guys,I must admit, the orange 42mm planet ocean hit me like a thunderbolt from clear skies!I can't really stop thinking about it....It looks very good IMHO.Should save money for the new Explorer 2 that I put myself on the waiting list for.
