Uniform Wares C41 Chronograph Headlines New Swiss Made Watch Collection
UK-based Uniform Wares has made a name for itself with modern watches designed with sterile dials (no text) and slick looks that are based on classic timepiece design principles. For a while, Uniform Wares has teased a move to a complete "Swiss Made" production, and now at the end of 2014, the re-vamped collection of all Swiss Made Uniform Wares products is available. Yes, it does mean a slight hike in Uniform Wares watches prices, but it should also mean a hike in overall quality and finishing. The brand is still dedicated to their own brand of high-end quartz, so we are still talking about mostly sub $1,000 prices. Having said that, these new C-Line C41 Chronograph watches top out at about $1,600 (around 1,000 GBP) depending on the model. The Uniform Wares Swiss Made collection will currently be distributed between two model families (the M-Line and C-Line collections) which each have a range of models contained within. I believe that, for a while, some of the legacy Uniform Wares mod
Casio G-Shock MT-G MTG1100-1A Watch
Casio opens a new MT-G door with a hardcore techy looking watch that steps in the room punching and glistening with impressive watch-ular (new made up word) curves. The new model MTG1100-1A looks like the love child of Robocop's cybernetic innards and an industrial crane. Just looking at the dial it is hard to appreciate all that the watch does, or it. It is easier to take the piece apart by function or feature to fully appreciate a watch like this.First, the MT-G watches in the G-Shock line have always been close to the top in terms of quality and durability. They are really only topped by lines such as the MR-G, that have cases done in DLC. The watch has a number of "hidden features" that aren't so much functions, but make the watch that much less something you need to worry about. It gives me the opportunity as well to discuss again the Casio "Tough Movement" (on the watch as "Tough MVT"). These can be found in some newer analog Casio watches. The point of them is to be self correct
Introducing: The A. Lange & S?hne Saxonia With Grey Dial
A. Lange & Söhne has added two new models to the ever-popular Saxonia line. At this year's Watches & Wonders in Hong Kong, the German brand has revealed that it will carry the Saxonia with a dark grey dial in white gold and pink gold. 1 OF 5 The traditional 37 mm, manual-winding Saxonia has been part of the Lange family of watches for 20 years, and is considered their most classic watch. The watch currently is made in white and pink gold with a silvered dial. It is no surprise that Lange has introduced the darker grey dial, as they have previously featured this on other models, such as the Lange 1 and Datograph. 2 OF 53 OF 5 In addition to the darker grey dial, there is a newly developed minute scale and they have slightly extended baton indexes. 4 OF 5 The retail price for the pink gold version is $16,600 and the white gold is $17,800. Watch Spotting: Audemars Piguet CEO Francois Bennahmias Wearing A Royal Oak Extra-Thin Tourbillon At
Dropping by the Audemars Piguet lounge at Art Basel this week, we just had to see what the man in charge, CEO Francois Bennahmias, had on his wrist. While he could be sporting something much more complicated or over-the-top, we caught glimpses of something much more understated from under Bennahmias' cuff. It turns out he was wearing the Royal Oak Extra-Thin Tourbillon, a piece that combines the history of the Royal Oak and the robustness of a true sport watch with the complexity of an ultra-thin tourbillon, perfectly encapsulating what makes Audemars Piguet so interesting today. 2 OF 5 Audemars Piguet is in its second year of sponsorship with Art Basel, the world's leading fair for high-end contemporary art, that, funnily enough, takes place in the very same exhibition halls as Baselworld. While I'll admit it was a bit strange walking through the familiar buildings looking at paintings and sculptures instead of the usual horological curiosities, Audemars Pigu
