Bring a Loupe: A Patek Tool Watch, The First Diver Ever From Omega, A Stunning Rolex, And Many Other
This week's Bring A Loupe will present to you some unusual, even a bit outlandish, yet truly beautiful watches. Let's start with a tool watch that Patek manufactured in the 1960s, with a stainless-steel case! You will also discover two rare divers, the Omega Marine – the first diver watch ever produced – and a more recent Universal Geneve. Unfortunately, we will also need to flag many doubtful pieces that you should stay clear of. This is your Bring A Loupe for September 18, 2015. A Tool Watch From Patek, The Amagnetic Reference 3417 1 OF 8 Countless times you have heard in Bring A Loupe that steel Pateks are rare. What about a tool watch that can face the aggression of magnetic fields? Yes, this is what the Patek Philippe "Amagnetic" reference 3417 is all about, and only about 500 of them were ever produced. When the 5170p was released, i loved everything about it except the baguette diamond markets, which i though totally destroyed the look of the watch. fast forward a year, after trying it on a few times and receiving a bit of enabling (thanks steve / nyc2la), i took the plunge. the diamonds are there, but very discreet, and it just seems to work together. here is my new favorite! trying some different strap options as well...
Flip SubC Date for 50th Anniversary Sea-Dweller...would you?
Hi all, I have a SubC Date that was my first Rolex (and gifted to me), now sitting around unworn for quite a while. My other two watches are a Hulk and a Batman, which I rotate. I'm more and more considering selling the Sub and getting a 50th Anniversary Sea-Dweller, cause it is similar to the Sub, but yet very different. With these thoughts, and a price difference of $5k, give or take, would you do it?Thanks!
