Raymond Weil Unveils Special Edition Nabucco Inspired by Gibson Guitars
Earlier this year, Swiss watch manufacturer Raymond Weil and Gibson Brands, an American manufacturer of guitars and other instruments, announced their plans to work together to create a special Nabucco timepiece, specifically inspired by the famous self-tuning Gibson SG Standard guitar. Here’s a look at the watch that resulted. The special-edition Raymond Weil Nabucco timepiece has four key design elements that signify it as a Gibson Special Edition. First, the iconic Gibson logo is located just above the Raymond Weil plaque in the center of the dial, replacing the standard applied 12 o’clock hour marker. The second design element is the six grooves that encircle the edges of the black galvanic dial, symbolizing the strings of a Gibson SG Standard guitar. The third is the Gibson logo incorporated into the custom oscillating weight that is visible through the clear sapphire caseback.? Omega 007 Bond Seamaster back after 6 week hiatus!
I went to Tourneau in early June to have them replace my pins and barrels since they randomly would fall out. This has been my daily watch for the past 5 years. It took them 4 weeks to get the parts in from Omega, and then they sent it off to their Las Vegas location to be repaired. Well, yesterday I was reunited after a 6 week hiatus. The repair was only $25. Not bad. Here are some quick pics that I took today. Enjoy!
Patek non Nautilus/Aquanaut with Shorts? Yeah, I do that.
Changed the strap immediately after I bought my 5205R from shiny to matte just to make it a little more casual. I find that this works. Do you find yourself wanting to wear your dressier Patek's even if you're wearing casual attire just so you can enjoy it on your wrist? I think some references it just doesn't work, and others mix with just about anything.
Possible Explorer II Price Increase
Just an FYI from a conversation I had so take it for what it's worth. Was at an AD with my BLNR and SubC this morning and chatted with the watchmaker for an hour. Well into our conversation about watches, safes, insurance, etc he mentioned he was made aware by Rolex that the Explorer II's will be getting a significant price increase soon. Possibly as early as Feb. Mind you that I was in an AD so it may have just been bait on a hook, but he was WELL aware from our conversation that I won't be purchasing another sport piece anytime soon and my next piece will be a Cellini. I think if he had just been throwing around bs to get me to walk out of there with another Rolex, he would have substituted Explorer II with Cellini because I tried on 4 different variations of it. Again, take it for what it's worth.
