Watch Experts Network: ‘DECAMP Goods Watch Rolls, an Interview’
This week, we feature an interview with the owner of a small watch goods company. I had the opportunity to meet this person on a recent trip to San Diego and was really taken by his story, his real interest in watches and, most importantly, the quality and design of his watch rolls. Erik gave me a watch roll of his own creation and it's been my go to accessory during travel and, believe me, I travel a lot. We hope you enjoy this candid view from a collector. What's your name and where are you based?Erik Akin and I'm from San Diego, California USA. I've lived here my whole life except for 5 years in Japan. What's your business and what type of products do you create? How did you come up with the name?DECAMP is all about watch rolls for the collector, of late I've also started creating some wallets too. I had been thinking long and hard about a name that would evoke an emotion instead of something eponymous. I was out to dinner one night and gazing out the window when I saw a sign for a
Introducing: The HMX 'Black Badger, Or The Most Fun Watch We Saw At Baselworld 2016
I'm not sure the HMX "Black Badger" is a watch that needed to exist, and that could be exactly why MB&F and James Thompson decided it should. It's wonderfully mad, just like its creators. And it has the power to turn grown men into 10-year-old boys, blissfully unaware they are playing with a $50,000 object. 1 OF 10 Minutes after the new HMX was unveiled, we knocked our chairs back and hurriedly got on all fours and under the table to check out the luminescent capabilities of the watch. And we weren’t disappointed. 2 OF 10 We've known about James Thompson for a few years. Under the alias "Black Badger," the Canadian accessory designer has been making waves on Instagram, where he posts photographs of his rings glowing in the dark. His secret is a photoluminescent composite called AGT ULTRA. The material is capable of emitting a "passive glow" that can last up to 40 percent longer than SuperLuminova C but it requires a very strong charge of light. His
Vintage Seamaster help
A buddy of mine called asking for my opinion on this 1952 SS Seamaster w. a waffle dial. Watch looks fantastic based on the pictures, but my knowledge of Omega doesn't go back as far as the early 50s. Wondering if anyone on here can help me help him. Thanks, TRF friends. Online description: Omega SS Seamaster ref 2766-1 movement serial # 13.8 million circa 1952. 33.5 X 42mm case with wide bezel and heavy lugs, with original black waffle dial with gold applied arrowhead indexes and tapered gilt hands. Self winding calibre 344 movement with subsidiary seconds. With original faceted Omega crown. Offered on your choice of fine or distressed strap.
Just got my first Omega
After all these years, I just got my first Omega I've been searching for the 45th anniversary moon watch for a while ever since I saw one at an AD.. and finally pull the trigger. (Thanks Henry Erlich, aka HankE from TZ)Its used, but LNIBthe pics below shows it with leather strap rather than the oem Nato (which I also have)This watch is absolutely gorgeous. (Especially the way the light reflects off the hour markers and the way the dial changes color in a subtle way.) Its hard to capture the beauty in pics.-Compared to my Rolexes, its light (titanium). -Its also lacking the date, but I will get used to it. -I also have to get in the habit of winding this daily since its not automatic.-The lume is better than my DJII, particularly the hour & minute hand lume.
Nautilus Perpetual Calendar...
... Just like the current 5726 but slimmer and with a blue dial... Life is beautiful. I so looking forwardSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
