IWC Watches @ SIHH 2010
Here is a little bit of nice watch porn courtesy of my camera and IWC (don't get upset for me using such language IWC, it is OK for a man to get horologically aroused). There is a watch in here for everyone. New for 2010 watches that are missing however, is the new IWC Portuguese Yacht Club Chronograph watch that I discussed separately here. I will also have an upcoming separate article on the new Da Vinci Ceramic Chronograph watch (most likely). Like all good arousing materials these day, I am going to keep the text to a minimum here. Allow these following watches to serve as some good flesh and blood examples of pieces you are interested in and perhaps haven't got a chance to play with yourself. We have more reasonably priced three-hand IWC Aquatimers to the very high end Tourbillon and Perpetual Calendar watches. Also in the mix is the now famous IWC Pilot's Watch Classic Double Chronograph Edition Top Gun, with its dyslexic name, but coherent appeal. Really a cool watch (and by the w
Introducing the Alpiner 4 GMT + Chronograph by Alpina
130 year old Swiss brand Alpina seems to be in the process of reinventing itself, going back to what made the company great. Alpina's original Alpine 4 from the 1930s was a watch conforming to company founder Gottlieb Hauser's four criteria for a sports watch: anti-magnetic, anti-shock, water resistant, and made of stainless steel. Such watches were intended to take on everything from mountain climbing to diving in alpine lakes. Now at Baselworld, Alpina has come out with a new version of the venerable watch C the Alpiner 4. The new collection actually contains two models, both in 44mm steel cases. One is a GMT watch with Alpina's new AL-550 GMT movement, featuring an in-house GMT/24H module. The other is a bi-compax Alpina AL-860 (Sellita SW500 based) chronograph. The new Alpiner 4 goes a few better than the original criteria all for, adding a nice GMT complication. Nice because the hour hand is quick-set while the GMT hand remains stationary. Typically a GMT movement functions the othe
Complementary pressure testing by AP
I was reading on the AP site that they do Pressure testing at no charge for all AP owners.... is there any conditions to this? is it like a car and have to take your service books to prove its beenserviced by them at the regular intervals etc...?Does it only apply to the original purchaser?cheers
Breaking into the world of Omega!
Just picked up a new (to me) 2254.50. I have to say I can tell this is going to be a keeper. I was looking for something that will make a good daily wearer for all tasks and I think I found the perfect fit. Here it is with a cigar to celebrate!
Rolex daytona ceramic panda dilemma
So I know a store that is selling the ever so popular daytona ceramic with the white face... It is pre owned but looks like new. Comes with box and card... They are asking 17k out the door...My dilemma... I'm not rich and I do have a sub ceramic but I want one more watch and that will be the daytona... The M.S.R.P is 12,500 plus tax at the AD, but obviously good luck getting one... So do you guys think in the next 5 to 10 years or so it will go back to normal and we will be able to buy one at the AD for M.S.R.P prices or you think it will even eventually be 17k or more at the AD and I should get it? I really don't want to over pay and this is not for an investment it is for me to wear the rest of my life but if ever god forbid I need to sell I don't want to lose especially in the thousands... Or get a two tone zenith daytona for 10k...
