Hublot & The Future of Watches - Jean Claude Biver Interview Baselworld 2009
Hublot is a brand that I respect a great deal. Every brand loves to state that they are forward-thinking and revolutionary and innovative and care about society and make the best watches But Hublot is a brand that is doing a tremendous job with all of the above. And it's this initiative that has set them apart from so many other brands. In the clip above, Revolution Magazine and TheTimeTVwatches-dealer have captured Jean-Claude Biver (the other JCB), discussing the brand and how its positioning itself. Which ultimately reflects on the entire watchmaking community. And in true Biver fashion, it is both honest and controversial. I agree with Biver's assertion that people are not buying watches to tell the time. Or as he more eloquently states it: "The watch does not represent the indication of time anymore." That is how he starts the interview - the jump off point. So what does this statement, among the rest within the interview, say for Hublot That they are realistic? More in tou
Need a recommendation for an AD in London.
Hi gents, need an introduction to an AD in London. I have put my name on the waiting list for the 15202OR with the AD in asia but it's been taking too long for the wait and am getting a little impatient. Was hoping someone could recommend an AD in London that would ship the watch across to HKG instead. Able to advice please. Also able to advice what's the cost of the 15202OR in London and what's the tax rebate there? (Is discussing prices allowed in this forum?)ThanksAdrian.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
15202 or 15400??
I am heading towards a 3 watch collection lifestyle and have already chosen the 2 first, a PP 5712 in SS, a Rolex sub LV aka the Hulk, and as a third am pulled towards an AP RO, but am hesitating a lot, until today between a Dual time or plain dial, and now between the 2 models mentioned above, in any case in blue, I know my PP will have a blue dial but it's my fav color.just don't know which to put, the Jumbo looks great but is only 39mm, have never tried one but like 40mm+, for me the PP 5712 is at the limit of my size factors, it's ok because very thin, so don't know about the JUMBO.About the 15400 I like the 41mm and the fact that there is a second hand.Is there a difference between the 2121 movement and the 3120? Except that the 3120 has a second hand? For thickness it's 1,7mm difference, in other words almost nothing. The Jumbo blue dial looks lighter blue than the 15400 on the site's pics, is it really the case or just a lighting question? Also do the dials change color like Nauti
Update to the 5164?
With the release of the advanced research aquanaut 5650g this year at Baselworld, will we be seeing a new iteration of the 5164 with the new tech anytime soon? (Spiromax balance spring and a flexible mechanism for 2nd timezone setting).
This (5712r) or That (5980r)?
With which piece would you round out this collection, removing price from the equation? The collection consists of the Platona and the SD4k. If I move forward with one of the below, I would flip my 5712/1a towards it. I've surprised myself; my tastes have changed over the past several years, and I now am drawn to a rose gold watch, something I didn't think would happen. Part of the appeal is the rose gold with brown leather strap, so a full-on rose (or yellow) gold watch (i.e. including bracelet) is not in the running. While I love the moonphase of the 5712/1a and the microrotor, and I have a chrono in the Platona, is the 5980r the clear winner? They definitely wear differently, so any feedback by owners is welcome! I truly find both amazing pieces, and sadly () both speak to me! Or, leave well enough alone???Thanks in advance for your thoughts. The 5712r or The 5980r
