Sinn 358 Chronograph Watches
Almost under the radar comes this new Sinn 358 watch. Did I intend to make that initial statement because this is a pilot watch? No but it works. I love timepieces like this that are all tool and do not look like they are made to be worn by tools. German Sinn watches continue to make me happy for mostly dismissing the pressures of the high-end watch world to upmarket all decent watches out there. Not that Sinn watches are cheap, but rather that they mostly feel fairly priced. The 358 collection is a good sign because it shows Sinn increasing the sizes of a few of their core collection watches. In essence, the 358 is a larger version of the outgoing 356. At 42mm wide, the 358 offers a more modern and Western-appealing version of the 356's 38.5mm wide case. The case is done in bead-blasted steel and comes with an acrylic domed crystal. Why acrylic? Sinn claims it is better for shock-resistance, but they also thankfully offer a sapphire crystal as an option (standard on some models). Actua
Antoine Martin Perpetual Calendar Watch
Martin Braun has had a tough last couple of years. The brand with his name "Martin Braun" was owned by the Franck Muller Group before financial hardship forced them to shut it down, and they didn't have any desire to give the name back to Martin. So he took some time off, probably played some video games, and is now back with a new brand called Antoine Martin. Their first watch called the Perpetual Calendar (really guys, that is the best you could come up with after developing this cool design?) contains a brand new movement that Braun created called the Calibre AM 39.001, and has hands that look like big swords.Hands like swords so big that they remind me of typical blades seen in the modern Final Fantasy games. Even the design of the watch and case fits that art style. So I'd like to dedicate this article to my boyhood love of Final Fantasy and truly gargantuan swords. That isn't to say the hands look weird. There is a sort of space-age neo-Roman architecture going on in the case and
Help with new to me AP
I have been wanting this watch for several years now and think I'm ready to trade off a few watches to acquire this watch. Only concern is price is $21,499. Seller is reputable for both and price seems cheap as hell to me. Anyone have any concerns? I am also considering the new titanium model. Price $27,500. I really like the titanium version but $5k more I'd just have to throw in some more cash. And then the watch I really have my eye on is the 44mm is the Rose Gold 44mm but I think I don't want to tie up$37-40+k. I'll probably the purchase the other in the future or trade. In that range I'm also loving the Nautilus. The 26400 has been my favorite but the titanium 26400IO version really has me in love and possibly my new love. I could come up the $5k soon but the RG is really a beauty. What about buying one of the other then trading up when the time is right. I DO NOT WANT TO LIQUIDATE my entire collection to swing the RG 44mm. What do you think about me selling my 16660, my DSSD,
5396 purchase in dubai - wise move?
Hello all, - just joined the forum having Bought my new Rolex Sub date a couple of months ago in Malta from the AD there, I'm very happy with it, but now decided a dress up watch is needed- I guess this is how the watch bug starts ..!)Visited a PP Dealer in Dubai with the intention of looking only at a Calatrava, but was blown clean away with a Annual calendar 5036G-11.Anyone consider it too complicated for a dress watch ?It would clearly be significant investment and hopefully as a thing of true beauty the watch will be a keeper: so does anyone here have any Dubai buying experience or sage advice? This dealer is in the main Mall in Dubai and not in an airport outlet.SteveMalta
