Sinn U1 White Limited Edition Watch Available On James List
I don't know how a watch like this slipped through the cracks. It came out just last summer as a limited edition. This is a very interesting and rare Sinn watch that is thankfully available on James List, and for not that much dough. Many of you know of the super functional and durable Frankfurt, Germany based watch maker Sinn. A few years ago they released one of their most style forward watches ever, the U1. It has a few limited editions including an all black, Sinn U Black (not typo, just "U"). Well this is another limited edition, called the Sinn U1 White (sometimes U1 Snow). It takes the almost opposite approach than that of the all back U Black. The White is a high contrast U1 model that is not only easy to read, but really stands out. White is quite a hot color right now for watches, and the U1 Snow capitalizes on that fact with a white strap and dial. The rest of the watch though is in PVD coated black. Combine the black & white look with the Bauhaus style of the dial hands
Hands-On: The Omega Seamaster 300 SPECTRE Limited Edition
It’s tough to shake the grip that Rolex has in the minds of watch enthusiasts and film buffs alike as the James Bond watch – first of all, it’s the watch that Ian Fleming wrote into the books; Fleming himself wore a Rolex, and the prototypical and original cinematic James Bond – Sean Connery – wore a Submariner in Dr. No. Connery will always be the original Bond, and the Sub will always be the original movie Bond watch, but that doesn’t mean – as subsequent years have shown – that there aren’t worthy successors to both, and Daniel Craig’s take on Bond as a barely restrained borderline sociopath on a collision course with himself has gone a long way towards rehabilitating what had become something of an exercise in camp. 1 OF 8 For many years now, the horological partner to the cinematic Bond has been Omega, and the watch has been the Seamaster, which is a plausible watch for the character: utilitarian and with a
Your path to AP...
I'm curious what all of your paths to owning AP were. Mine were kind of backwards, as I had met a certain gentleman with extreme knowledge of swiss watches, and I am a specialist in another type of craftsmanship, antique Japanese swords and consult on behalf of collectors. We discussed the similarities between the two (differences being obvious, as one was meant to kill, and one was meant to find out how much time you had to kill) and I learned at the time about there existing a whole other world of swiss watches other than Rolex.Anyway this discussion inserted AP into my brain as something I'd have one day if I ever owned a fine timepiece (last item was some watch I found at 10 years old with a highly luminous digital dial... the kind that ... kills you I guess!). I lost it. And I have a Seiko given to me by my staff that went into a drawer of keepsakes and was never worn. Finally bought my ROO this year after finding the forum here and bouncing some questions around. And here I am.How
got my first rolex today
it's also my first post here.short version:it's my birthday this week, and the conversation with my wife went like this:me: i was actually thinking of buying a rolex i found.her: no.me: no?her: no, i'm going to buy it for you. happy birthday.long version:this is really more of an introduction of myself. it was only last year that i decided i wanted to start wearing a watch again, after some 20+ years.i had no idea what i liked, so i visited shops and spent hours looking online. i read some dumb article classifying watches into groups and i decided that i didn't like divers because they all looked the same (turns out they all looked like submariners, ha).over some months, learning my tastes along the way, i bought some decent but inexpensive automatics, and definitely did not want a Rolex. part was cost, part was growing up in steel mill country after the mills went bust and (to this day) maybe having a reaction against ostentatious displays of wealth.but something funny happened when i
SS Daytona 3 year warranty???
I bought my SS Daytona march of 2015 just before the warranty changed to 5yr. I read that mine may have been extended to a 3 year warranty by Rolex for watches purchased between July 1, 2013 and June 30, 2015 but my ad has never herd such a thing? We sent to Rolex for service with my fingers crossed. Curious if anyone has a Rolex in this timeframe that has had service done reciently under warranty? Mine keeps randomly stopping and i have never had to wind it in 2 years but now I'm needing to wind it every few days.
