ORIS Watches at The Reno Air Show 2013
ORIS Air Racing III Limited Edition Watch for 2013While I am a huge fan of pilot watches, and certainly of flying as an efficient and economical form of transportation, when ORIS invited me to attend the Reno Air Races in Nevada, I had a small pause due to a terrible accident there a few years ago and also the fact that Breitling has been historically such a huge sponsor of this event. Oris also produced a Reno Air Racing Limited Edition III watch for the 2013 event. However, after looking into the safety measures taken since and most importantly learning a bit about the brand via the Internet, my decision was clear. This could be fun, and give me an opportunity to learn more about the brand, as a few times ORIS has come up in comments on this site especially when I reviewed diving watches such as the?Sinn U1. And, most importantly, this was for me an opportunity to find out if ORIS lives up to its simple motto: real watches, for real people.ORIS' Plane the Scarlet ScreamerORIS has an i
Omega Boutique in PA
So, in my previous post I talked about getting my first Omega.... I love it and will wear it til I can't wear it any longer... My wife bought it for me from Fr. John's AD in DC... I obviously had to get it sized... I figured I would take it to the new Boutique that opened in the King of Prussia mall... They were not happy AT ALL!!! They questioned where I got it and I explained that it was a gift my wife got for me for Fathers Day... Basically I was getting the stink eye the entire time with bit of snooty haughty taughty on the side... Needless to say 1.25 hours later my watch was sized and I'm now rocking the PO 8500 45.5mm... I didn't really think I get hassled the much to size my Omega... I'm supporting their brand I just refuse to pay full price... Multiple people walked in and when they were told there was no discount, they walked out... Anyone else out there run into attitude in the boutiques???I did however manage to see a gorgeous Aqua Terra LE that was stunning!!!!I'm to
5170p - incoming
Many thanks to those who offered their thoughts and advice as I contemplated this purchase. I find this watch to be absolutely stunning. I always hoped for a blue dial, platinum 5170. Patek delivered at the 2017 Basel, but with a little curve ball. The dial (blue to black from inside out) is one like I've never seen. And the diamonds are not normally my cup of tea, but they truly are subtle and make the watch both dressy and fun. Here are a few initial pics, more to follow. *The plastic will be removed once I get home.
Advice Needed - Best Patek Dress Watch that Wears Casually
Hey Everyone,I am finally feeling the pull of a Patek dress watch.Seeing the 5270 (white dial) and 5131r in person has cast a spell on me.But are those too dressy for more casual attire?Since dress watches are not something I have a lot of experience with,I am coming here to seek sage advice.Question: Which Patek Dress watch references, metals, dial colors etc. are the easiest to wear with casual attire as well as more dressed up.I am not looking for any Nautilus (including 5980, 5990, etc) or Aquanaut references, but more the classic (and modern) Patek dress watch references.Main criteria 1) Definitely under $120-130K (but more realistically $50-100K range)2) Must dress down to even jeans, shorts, sandals, nice shirts, and sharp graphic tees even. Is that possible to pull off in a fashionable way?3) Ideally a watch that will not tank on the secondary market. My preference would be platinum, but white gold may be necessary for monetary reasons.Actually I am open to suggestions on which
Hulk won't change date-now what??
Hi, Title kind of says it all. My Hulk will not change dates automatically after it goes past midnight. Even after I manually wind the minute hand around, it does not switch over. I have tried it for several revolutions of the minute hand to make sure. However, it does change when I manually pull out the stem to the first click, where that feature is JUST to change the date and the minute hand does not move. So, what is my procedure now. I bought it from DavidSW here and I have plenty of warranty left. Can I just bring it to an AD with my warranty card or do I need to send it to Rolex somewhere. Thanks for your help.
