SIHH: Montblanc Star World-Time GMT Automatic
Ease of use and user-friendliness are the top priorities for Montblanc's new Star World-Time GMT Automatic. All functions can be operated via the readily grasped and screwed crown. Presented in a 42mm steel case, this piece is available with black or silver guilloche dial. When the crown is in its neutral (unscrewed) position, turning it clockwise manually winds the automatic movement and turning it counter-clockwise resets the outer ring which indicates the worlds 24 time zones. When the crown has been withdrawn to its first extracted position, turning it clockwise resets the date and turning it counter-clockwise triggers the GMT hand (with the red tip) to advance in hourly increments. Finally, when the crown has been withdrawn to its second extracted position, turning it clockwise adjusts the 12-hour and the minute-hand in the usual manner. The 12-hour hand is permanently coupled to the movement and shows the time in the wearer's present location. The smaller GMT hand is accompanied b
Parmigiani’s New Bugatti: the Atalante Flyback Chronograph
Parmigiani’s Bugatti Type 370 collection captured collectors’ imaginations with its unique design and technical virtuosity. At SIHH 2010, Parmigiani launched its latest Bugatti-inspired timepiece, the Atalante Flyback Chronograph. Available in red and white gold, with a limited number in platinum, the Atalante is Parmigiani’s first flyback. Unlike the highly unconventional Type 370, the Atalante is a more traditional round, 43 mm timepiece, though the overall aesthetic is far from staid. The openwork dial’s vertical embrasures, inspired by the Bugatti Atalante 57S Sport grill, offer glimpses of the mechanism below. The chronograph pushers are located on the left. The “EB” emblem at 6 symbolizes the relationship between the brands. Inside, Caliber PF 335 is based on the brand’s first in-house chronograph movement, with an added flyback mechanism. Once the chronograph hand is moving, a single press resets it instantly to zero and restarts the chr
Vintage Omega Speedmaster Watch
Hi there, I need some help. I inherited my dad's watch collection and in the bunch was the Speedmaster Moon watch I always wanted from him as a kid. He bought it in that era but I do not remember. How can you tell the year on these. The stainless band says 1171 inside. It's got to be from 1970 or something, how can I tell? Any other markings? In the box he kept it in was a 1969 watch on the moon add featuring John F Kennedy. Any help would be appreciated.
AC Advice for Travel
Hi Everyone; Seeking your collective wisdom... I live in Tokyo and travel to the US frequently on business. Just acquired a 5146 and wondered if any of you would share any tips on managing an AC on long trips going East. Do you just advance the time forward to the destination on the hands and then use the pusher for date to get everything all synched up? Does advancing the date mess with the moon phase or other indications? Lastly, I also assume that traveling back to Tokyo from the US i can just advance the hands forward to the time there... correct? Thanks in advance for your suggestions. Hope eveyone has had a fantasitc Christmas.
Which Rolex would you take on a Zombie Apocalypse?
Watching Z-Nation on Netflix the other night, it led me to seriously consider which watch I would take if I could take 1 with me for survival and I thought this would be a funny poll to post. For me its the daytona for timing.
