Introducing The Blancpain Bathyscaphe Chronograph Flyback AND The New High-Beat Caliber F385 (Which Might Actually Be The Real Story Here)
This year at BaselWorld, Blancpain followed up last year's Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe (HODINKEE "A Week On The Wrist" review here) with a chronograph in a similar form. That's cool and all, but to me the most interesting aspect of this watch is not the available fully ceramic case, or the NATO with ridiculously hardcore hardware, or the general sleekness of the end product. Nay – the most interesting part of this new Bathyscaphe is actually what's inside. This is the first Blancpain to feature the brand new caliber F385, which is a ground-up new concept for them and a fairly impressive new development that doesn't seem to have gotten a lot of attention. That's about to change. 2 OF 24 First, the details of the watch. Sized at 43mm and available in either full ceramic or satin-brushed stainless steel, the chronograph is 300m water resistant and holds on to many of the design traits seen in last year's time-only Bathyscaphe. Anyone know the lug width on the PO 8900 43.5mm?
I love the new end link design that provide a more conforming fit to the wrist on the new PO 8900 43.5mm, but I simply cannot get past the glossy look of the dial and bezel...I much prefer the matte look of the PO 8500 42mm dial and bezel!Does anyone know the lug width of the PO8900 43.5mm and will that bracelet fit the PO 8500 42mm case? Thanks in advance!

In my eyes, attractive tropical is uniform dark brown / chocolate color on the dial, and hands that match or complement that dial
Omega Speedmaster 50th Anniversary
Hey,Just wondering what are peoples' thought about this watch (ref 311.30.42.30.01.001). Perosnally I think the normal speedy is superior but would like a second opinon. Everything seem to be the same, however, the Bazel is Aluminum and not SS which scratches easier. Also a friend who worked in a watch shop metioned that the bracelet is chunkier on the normal speedy. Is this true? For those who considered this watch but brought the normal speedy, what factor made you change your mind?Vice versa for those who own this watch, what made you choose this over the normal speedy? Here are some pics of the 50th Anniversary. Here are the normal speedy one
