Hublot Launches Bode Bang With Charity Tennis Event
Four-time World Champion skier Bode Miller recently launched the new Hublot limited edition Bode Bang watch with a celebrity tennis match at Sutton East Tennis Club in New York City. The participants gathered to support Bode's relationship with the Harlem Junior Tennis and Education Program. Following the Celebrity Challenge, Bode led a basic tennis clinic with 50+ kids and then, along with Hublot, (on behalf of the Turtle Ridge Foundation) donated $10,000 to the organization. Best known for his skill on the slopes, Bode also knows his way around a tennis court. My family played a lot when I was growing up. If I wasn't skiing professionally I think I'd be playing tennis. Bode Miller and his family started The Turtle Ridge Foundation in 2005. It is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting health, diversity, and sustainable living through sports. In February 2009, Bode joined forces with Hublot to collaborate on design and development of the new Hublot Bode Bang limited edition
Jaeger-LeCoultre Geophysic True Second Watch With New In-House Movement
In the early summer of 2015, we sat down with Jaeger-LeCoultre to take a look at something special they wanted to show us. We were not able to take pictures at the time, but we did get some excellent hands-on time with the follow-up models to the "new" Geophysic collection that was introduced by Jaeger-LeCoultre in 2014 (hands-on here). The Jaeger-LeCoultre Geophysic collection has now officially blossomed with a unique personality as well as a unique family of movements which is something not only new for Jaeger-LeCoultre, but represents a new value proposition for watch collectors. The first of the 2015 Geophysic watches is this Jaeger-LeCoultre Geophysic True Second. To make a long story short, the new in-house made Jaeger-LeCoultre caliber 770 automatic movement has a "true second" complication, which means that even though the movement is mechanical, the second hand "ticks." This is most traditionally known as a "deadbeat seconds" hands, but since the term "deadbeat" isn't exactly
If you could only have one of the AP Royal Oak Offshore Chrono 44mm...
Looking at my next grail and I have narrowed it down to the AP Royal Oak Offshore Chrono 44mm that was introduced in 2011. I start out wanting the SS version then there were threads on the CF version and my mind was fixed on getting a carbon fiber variant. But now after seeing more threads on the RG version I think I found the sweet spot. (note to self, stop reading these AP incoming threads LOL). Would like to know what my fellow TRFers would choose if it came down to this watch and in which metal and why.
