An Hour With Jean-Claude Biver Of Hublot On Watches, Business, And Being A Hippie
Jean-Claude Biver is a living legend in the watch industry. If you are someone in the industry you either admire him, are jealous of him, or perhaps dislike him. Nevertheless you know him and know he is important. One thing most people can say about Biver is that he speaks loudly, passionately, and often exaggerates a bit (though I don't think he believes that). At least when he is talking about one of his brands - which has been Hublot?for the last decade or so.So here is a rare opportunity to hear Jean-Claude Biver speak with an uncommon personal tone and honesty. He talks about his youth, his hippie years (yes!), starting in the watch industry under some crazy people and doing things he didn't want to do, and how he used his own passion and ideas to create a lot of new things. In a sense, the over-an-hour-long talk is a dissertation on his life in the watch industry, how he thinks, and what you can learn from him. 16622 vs 116622 in Photographs
The YM was almost never on my radar. Not only due to its price but also because I never warmed up to polished center links and to be honest, like many others, I felt it was a bit too monochromatic and a bit... well... boring.About 6 weeks ago, a very kind forum member (different forum) shipped me his 16622 to try.I fell in love with it almost instantly and I knew I had to have one. (don't you hate it when that happens?)Anyway, since I currently have both the 16622 and 116622 in my possession, I thought it would be a good idea to do a side by side photo comparison. While the YM was the model to introduce many new features to the Rolex Professional line up, it seemed to have been largely forgotten over the years and continue to soldier on largely unchanged. The 116622 introduced some minor changes, with the most important one of all being (of course) the updated clasp with Easy Link. This will just focus on external differences as I am not anywhere near knowledgeable enough to comment on wha
