The longer one spends around the watch collecting world, the more one tends to be interested in early watches – typically those that pre-date the "modern era." What I mean by that is there is a clear division with many brands – Rolex, Omega, and Heuer, for example, all began naming watch lines in the 1950s and '60s: the Submariner, Speedmaster, Carrera, et al. But, the watches that came before these great lines of horology existed are fascinating not only because of their relative obscurity, but also because of their purity in design. In this story, I examine four watches all available in Phillips' Geneva Watch Auction Two that were made by Rolex, and they're all complicated. But, none of them fall under the category of a Submariner, GMT, Daytona, or Explorer. And there is real beauty in that. AP service
I’m considering purchasing an AP. I’m still researching models, but I’m curious about a few things.With my Rolex watches I send them in as needed for service. What is a reasonable timeline for sending in an AP model like the 15400 for service? (Ex: Every 5, 7, 10 years?) What does a standard service run? How long is the turnaround?Just because I’m sure this will be suggested... I used the search function and didn’t find concrete answers, and most of the threads were 5 or more years old...Thanks in advance.

Got to try on a 15400
I finally got to try on a 15400 and some other ROOs. The bracelet catches light at every angle, much much flashier than I expected. What do you think? Does it look big on my wrist?
