Jaeger-LeCoultre Duomtre Unique Travel Time Watch
Whenever a new watch is released by a prestigious brand, accompanying reams of marketing material extolling a retrodden technique as unique are almost par for the course. However, with the release of the Jaeger-LeCoultre Duomtre Unique Travel Time watch, one of the industry's most celebrated brands has produced something that catches the eye from all sorts of angles.Boasting an in-house calibre and a dazzling dial, this new travel companion from Jaeger-LeCoultre is genuinely something of interest. I have never seen a dial created in this exact fashion. Similar in production to hand-peening, this dial is created by a freestyle chiselling process conducted by an artisan using nothing but touch and experience as their guide. The result is an optically engaging fascia, on top of which, pleasingly muted sub-dials have been installed. There's a lot of silver on the face of this watch, which is always a touchy thing to balance well in a case of matching colour, but the monochromatic appearan
WATCH WINNER REVIEW: Martenero Founder
In April of 2015, the monthly giveaway watch on watches-dealer was a Martenero Founder. The winner was Mark F., and after enjoying his new timepiece he has shared a watch winner review with us for you - the watches-dealer audience. Thanks to Mark and all the other watch winners who share experiences with the world. Here is Mark's review:First and foremost, I would like to thank the hard-working staff at watches-dealerwatches-dealer and the generous team at Martenero for making this giveaway possible. I am extremely grateful to them both and still find it hard to believe that I was fortunate enough to win such a significant gift. The customer service at Martenero was exceptional during the entire process and should be considered as a notable advantage to buying from an aspiring American company. I have been encouraged by the number of upstart watch brands that have come out of the US in the recent years, and NYC-based Martenero is surely one to keep an eye on.As most watches-dealer read
Cartier Calibre Watches
The big news from Cartier for 2010 is the Calibre collection of watches. While they did release a few impressive highly complex watches (not to mention a tourbillon version of the Calibre watch), those aren't going to be volume models. The Calibre will be a much more affordable timepiece with a fresh and modern look along with the Cartier name. As a thick layer of icing on the cake, the Calibre is named as such for having a Cartier in-house made movement. That's right. The jewelry brand can finally satisfy the connoisseur's need for exclusive in-house movements and the brand's famous style. The movement is the 1904 MC, named for the year that Cartier made a watch for Alberto Santos Dumont, being Cartier's first wrist watch. The movement is an automatic with two mainspring barrels, 48 hours of power reserve, and a hack seconds complication. It further features ceramic ball bearings for the automatic rotor which winds the watch when spinning in both directions Also, it looks like the mov
Found: General Patton's Five Minute Repeating Split Second Chronograph Pocket Watch (Live Photos, Detailed History)
We see a lot of watches at HODINKEE – complicated, simple, new, and vintage. Every once in a while a watch comes across our desks that makes us stop and think about history and time. Recently, we had the pleasure of seeing a unique pocket watch from the early 20th century. This gold Tiffany & Co. watch features a five minute repeating split second chronograph movement made by Patek Philippe. The engraving on the cuvette reads, "Lieut. George S. Patton U.S.A., from his Father and Mother, June 11 1909," confirming that this is General George S. Patton's pocket watch. 1 OF 8 General George S. Patton 2 OF 8 General Patton was a U.S. Army general, who commanded forces across the Mediterranean and European theaters in World War II. He is widely regarded as one of the most successful U.S. field commanders in history, and was well known for his bravado and determination.
