MB&F HMX Watch For Brand's 10th Anniversary Priced At 'Only' $30,000
The MB&F HMX watch celebrates the 10th anniversary of the landscape-changing Geneva-based Swiss watch maker founded by Max Busser. "HMX" means "Horological Machine 10," but that should not be confused with its numerical order in the collection because it would really be the HM7 after last year's MB&F HM6 (hands-on here). With that said, the MB&F HMX is most closely related to MB&F HM5 watch - that shares a similar concept and visual form. Though compared to the HM5, the MB&F HMX is about half the price.A special motto engraved on the rear of the MB&F HMX watch on the rotor really sums up what MB&F is all about - at least in the eyes of Max Busser. "A Creative Adult is a Child who Survived" spells out the emotion behind developing a brand which began not to sell "watches," but "horological art." Over its 10 years, MB&F has remained impressively true to its original mandate set forth by Mr. Busser - and that is to release time-telling art inspired by the t

As spring approaches, we check out new watches from Panerai, Bovet, Christophe Claret, F.P. Journe and many more. We also find out how time is kept and measured; pay a visit to Roger Smith on the Isle of Man; find out more about the story of one man's hunt for his grail watch; and get a rare sneak peek into the workshops of one of the biggest brands in the world, Rolex.1. Panerai Luminor 1950 PAM557 Destro 3 Days Watch Hands-On: A Lefty PAM372If you love watches from Panerai, the new PAM 557 Destro 3 Days Watch should be one to look out for. It is essentially a left-handed version of the earlier and extremely popular PAM 372, which I reviewed, and it was only announced this year at SIHH. Here's a quick look at this new highly anticipated watch.Source: watches-dealer2. Bovet Recital 12 Watch Hands-On: The Thinnest One YetBovet is an interesting brand that offers very classically-styled watches with heavily decorated movements and highly stylized dials. AP ROO Rubber Clad Cake!
My fiance recently threw me a surprised birthday party for my 30th and got me my favorite banana cake designed to look like my AP ROO rubber clad! Talk about supporting my bad habits!
Baselworld vs. SIHH vs. Watches & Wonders vs.
Does anyone on this forum from the US attend watch collector/enthusiast events? It seems the large conventions in Switzerland are not convenient for many of us humble smaller time collectors. The classic car world has Concours which happen all over the country and are generally very good including the d'Elegance/Pebble Beach. Are there similar events for watches/horology that arent just for dealers/retailers?
Help - looking at 3445 as first Patek
All: thank you so much in advance. Been looking at a 3445 Calatrava that has sat with a vintage dealer for over one year. (anybody know Swiss Watch Expo?). What can I do to avoid making a mistake here? I.e., should I expect this watch to keep perfect time or will performance degrade over decades? Can it be reconditioned to run perfectly and by whom? And how do I have it checked to make sure it's real? (The dealer sells a lot of Pateks but I'm still cautious). Thanks!
