Omega Presents The 2011 Seamaster Planet Ocean Watch Collection
A medium-sized speed boat motors us away from Naples and it is hot. The ancient city I am moving away from is colorful but that describes most of Italy. Italy is vibrantly alive, dirty, and passionate. It is also serious watch lover territory. I am pretty sure this is where large watches got their start. Omega has invited me out here for the official debut of their 2011 Seamaster Planet Ocean watch collection. A few months ago, I saw the watches in a trade show setting at Baselworld in Switzerland. Already an outspoken fan of the new pieces, Omega wants me to experience Planet Ocean in a more comfortable setting where I, and other international journalists, can get the full story from Omega's top people. In choppy water it takes almost an hour to get to the island of Capri. I later learn that large rock has been a favorite getaway for over a thousand years in addition to being a great inspiration to artists, writers, and political minds. The Romans inhabited Capri long ago, themselves

For our part, the team of luxury - Insider is particularly knee-wobbly with the prospect of a significant timekeeper that links us to personal milestones. After all, a watch is something that you wear so it is by its nature very personal. However, there is a bit of a snag. Mechanical tickers more sublime failed to set alarms more than 24 hours in advance and even that is very impressive, the first introduced this alarm 24 hours only in 2005. Enter the journal of Glashotte Original Senator, to configure an alarm to 30 days in advance.
Just bought back my first watch!
In April 2005 we stopped in Roatan, Honduras (or could have been Belize as we stopped in both ports) for a day on a cruise ship and a being a relatively new port watch and jewellery shops were just opening up. From memory there was a new Columbian Emeralds store which stocked Omega which I went in.I bought an Omega Seamaster Professional 300m. Automatics were around ?900 and the battery/manual ?750 once exchanged but I didn't know this at the time. The shop had only just opened and I ended up buying an automatic but only paid ?750 - it was only later that on other islands and checking out the prices that I'd worked out the correct prices and that they had sold me the more expensive watch for the cheaper price. I had really wanted a Rolex but couldn't afford one. Anyway a few months later we were going on another Caribbean cruise with my parents and I ended up pushing the boat out and buying a Yachtmaster Rolex. I sold the Omega to one of the guys I worked with for the price I paid and
Service intervals
I just purchased an Omega 2225.80.00 from a coworker. He puchased the watch from a Las Vegas AD in 2008. I provided Omega the serial number and they emailed me back stating the watch was originally sold to an authorized dealer in 2007. The watch is running spot on and I read on Omega's web site that they recommend service at 4-5 years. I am just wondering if I should spend the additional 590.00 for a service at this point since it's working fine, or should I wait until I notice it is not running properly?
Small wrist with BIG Planet Ocean
I have a 6.5 inch wrist and am in two minds as to getting the 45.5mm Seamaster Planet Ocean (PO) or the smaller 42mm PO.Does anyone have any comments to share about getting the larger PO for a smaller wrist? Is it uncomfortable to wear in the long run? (the 5 min at the AD doesn't really help a lot).Alternatively, pics of wrist shots with smaller wrists would be appreciated.Thanks...
