MB&F HM3 Poison Dart Frog Watch
DISCLAIMER: Contrary to the name of this MB&F timepiece, making skin contact with it will not result in you being poisoned with deadly venom. That is what would happen if you started handling actual poison dart frogs (though I believe you would have to bite into a few of the safer ones to get poisoned). Which is sad, because they are really cute little creatures. I totally want to travel to South American jungles and witness first hand the petite deadly amphibians hopping around on the jungle floor. In this case, Poison Dart Frog is the name of the latest MB&F limited edition HM3 Frog watch. While I haven't been counting, it does seem that MB&F has been releasing a few more limited edition watches lately. The boutique brand's growing success gives them the ability to tackle more projects. I've written extensively on the HM3, HM3 Frog, and related limited editions. Just search aBlogtoReadwatches-dealer for my previous articles as there are too many to link to in this article
Cadence 4:20 Watch For The Most Important Time Of The Day
Not that Cadence is the last brand I would have guessed may release a timepiece like this, but the sport watch brand wasn't HIGH on the list. For those needing a bold reminder when it is blaze hour, Cadence offers up the 4:20 watch. A pretty simple minimalistic design with baton hour markers and hands, save for a bold Arabic numeral indicator at 4:20. Actually, the indicator is at 4 o'clock, but when the hour and minute hand are touching it - the time will be 4:20.The explanation they give for the watch is rather amusing: "If you think 4:20 is the most important time of day, this watch is for you. If you have no idea why 4:20 is a special time of day, there is nothing here for you."Growing up in California I know exactly what it means - and it isn't tea time. It is marijuana smoking time - for those so inclined. Now you have a pretty subtle watch you can wear with a suit, but one that you can stare at and also have a daily reminder of your daily habit. Flynn's Chronograph?
Can anyone figure out what he is wearing? (This is not supposed to start a political debate)
AQUA TERRA vs. EXP 1
Understanding that this is a forum with fans of Omega and Rolex.. and this is in the Omega section.. just curious about your thoughts on the newer Aqua Terra 41.5mm teak grey dial vs. the newer Rolex Explorer 1 39mm. Has anyone had any experience with both models? Obviously.. the Aqua Terra offers the date function while the Explorer does not.. wondering more about how each of them wear and any other thoughts you may have? Thanks guys..
The Delrin Brake.
A lot of discussion has taken place on the use of a synthetic (Delrin) brake used in the Speedy movement. The brake is part of the stopwatch function and, possibly due to the self-lubricating and durability of Delrin, the change was made to this material. The controversy comes when you purchase the clear caseback models. Omega then changes the Delrin for metal, presumably for aesthetics rather than for functionality..For some reason, this piece of plastic (actually Delrin was manufactured as a synthetic stone) has divided the Omega enthusiasts into two very opinionated camps...Personally, I would like to see the Delrin brake, a space age composite that can be machined and colored, in the clear caseback models..
