IWC Connect: The Latest “Smart” Watch Strap for Mechanical Timepieces
With last week’s announcement of its IWC Connect device an “intelligent tool” embedded in the straps of its watches IWC Shaffhausen becomes the latest Swiss watch brand to offer a high-tech alternative to both traditional mechanical watches and so-called smartwatches such as the recently released Apple Watch.According to the company, the concept behind IWC Connect is “to enable owners of IWC timepieces to control their connected environment directly from the wrist while also maintaining the integrity of a handcrafted mechanical timepiece.” In other words, to compare and contrast it with other “smart” and “connected” products introduced by Swiss watch companies over the past year or so, it appears to have more in common with Montblanc’s Urban Speed e-Strap (you can read about it here) in that all the electronics will be inside the strap rather than in the watch itself than with such “hybrid” devices as the M
It's cleared customs!

Curious about the Royal Oak 15300? Is this piece pretty comfortable on the wrist? Thanks in advance for any feedback.
I love this Forum: New Aquanaut
Thanks to a fellow forum member I got a lead on a new 5167 in stock at his local AD. I called yesterday morning, they told me it was on hold for another client who just had to get funds together. They called me about 45 minutes before shipping deadline and told me the guy passed on it, so I pounced. The AD I had contacted prior told me 6-9 months wait time, so it was a score to not have to wait. This is my second Aquanaut and this time I'm not letting it go!! Let it go last time to partially fund a larger purchase and always regretted doing it. Here she is moments after I had the strap cut, and I wasted no time getting it used to its own element. 81 degrees in So Cal today.
Help With S/N and Date of Manufacture
I have never been an expert. Let me just say that I bought a Brand New 16713 GMT Master II at a Miami AD in May 1997. Now looking at the charts on the internet the S/N starts with an N, it says that is was manufactured in 1991. I find it hard to believe that this renowned Jewlery store shelved that watch for 6 years before selling it to me. I have all the original box and papers and invoice. Any observations ?
