Bulova Accutron Watch Ad Pitch Opens MAD MEN Season 7
Season 7 (the final season) of the television show MAD MEN debuted tonight with the reading of a pitch for the Accutron wrist watch. It was only a matter of time before the subject of watch advertising came up in the series and there is perhaps no better example than the original Bulova Accutron. As the original electronic tuning fork watch, it offered a unique upgrade over mechanical watches but existed in a pre-quartz movement age. The pitch, as described in a monologue in the opening scene of season 7 episode 1 titled "Time Zones," is perhaps one of the best watch advertisements of all time.It was in the year 1960 that Bulova unveiled the Accutron range of watches to the public. The most famous model was the Spaceview, which was actually an accidental design never intended for sale. Is Fossil Ready For An $895 Swiss Automatic Watch?
A few years ago, I used to joke that you'd never see an article about Fossil on watches-dealer. So, this is actually the very first one. Yeah, I know that sounds snobby, but what exactly was I going to write? "Here is an $80 watch that is a cheap recreation of something else you really ought to buy. But with Fossil, you have the convenience of Macy's." As a business, Fossil is a fantastic money-making machine. Proudly American, the Texas-based company is actually in the business of retail product placement before they are in the market of making watches. That is at least from the perspective of what they are good at business-wise. Though, over the years, their ability to make decent watches improved (a bit). Given what I know and what I am used to, it is just hard for me to take Fossil timepieces seriously as something I'd wear - just being honest. Hello All,I am interested in locating an Omega Seamaster GMT w/ white dial (2538.20.00). I know the model has been discontinued. Would ADs have some still in stock?I have cruised the various forums and this model doesn't seem to come up very often. Pam 312 Hour hand not hitting the Markers dead on after two trips to Service Center
Hi All A while back I told you all about a friend's 312 which spent 3+ months with Panerai service center to address the hour hand not hitting the markers dead center at top of the hour. This was after the first month-long round trip to Panerai where *nothing* was done. The watch came back as it was. Well it's back from the shop and apparently up to old tricks.Now granted his seconds hand was not on the 12 marker in his photos like mine were...but what do folks think.
