Rotonde de Cartier Annual Calendar
At SIHH this week Cartier unveiled the new Rotonde de Cartier Annual Calendar with the all-new manufacture caliber 9908 MC. All indications are set via the crown, and the 45 mm case is available in white gold or pink gold. The annual calendar mechanism is incorporated into the plate of the 1904 MC caliber. The in-house design for the movement includes a semi-instantaneous mechanism for converting the large date into two independent numerals (over a one-hour conversion period), which requires less power and so helps to ensure maximum chronometric stability. In this system, the four-branched star-wheel corresponding to the tens column is turned by the catches located on the large unit disc. This unit disc carries within it a simple mechanism which, thanks to a cam bearing a memory of the months incorporated directly into the lightened rims of the units of the date device, makes it possible to display without any possibility of error the months having 30 or 31 days, once the current month
Speedy advice
OK having a decent collection of Rolex and looking to add some variety ive always been intersted in the speedmaster moonwatch, (ive got a PO and cant fault it) Now im not really up to speed(no pun intended) on the models nor the pricing, i like the idea of the plexiglass as a vintage point of view.I went into one of the local AD's last night and got offered one for about $3400usd with the massive omega box(loupe, straps ect...)Is this a decent price or am i paying for packaging... after all you dont wear the box lol! its very cool but its going to live in the cupboard with all the other ones.Should i look for an older second hand pre special packaging? or is this a decent price for this set?just looking for some knowledgeable opinions cheers
Thinking of adding a speedmaster to the box...
I have been looking at buying a soeedmaster to add to the collection and am wondering which model to go for. Found a few of the reedition pieces at a good price but should I spend a bit more and go for the actual moon watches?I am tempted to go with the reedition because they are less expensive and being a newer model maybe they would stand up to everyday wear better. The styling on them is fantastic too but I heard the later bracelets have a slightly troublesome pusher clasp? All opinions, thoughts and pointers would be greatly appreciated. I have only started researching Omegas recently.
Datejust with Day Window
Was looking at classifieds this morning and noticed an 1803 listed. The dial said Datejust but at the top was the day window? Can someone explain this to me.
