Thierry Stern Takes Over the Presidency of Patek Philippe
Patek Philippe has officially announced that at the end of August, 2009, Thierry Stern took over the presidency of Patek Philippe SA Geneva and was appointed President of the Board of Directors, taking over from his father Philippe Stern. With this move, Patek Philippe confirms its mission as a family run business that is now in the hands of the fourth generation. Born in 1970, Thierry Stern grew up in the world of watchmaking. As of 1990, he embarked on a hands-on training path which took him on regular intervals from production workshops to business management, with time spent working with subsidiaries and retailers in both Germany then the USA. From 1997 to 1998, Thierry was in charge of the Benelux market. In 1998, he was appointed head of the Creation department and quickly took part in group strategic decisions by taking over the position of Vice-President.A Family Business Carried Over From Father to SonFounded in 1839 by Antoine Norbert de Patek who was joined by Jean-Adrien Ph
Blancpain X Fathoms Watch
Blancpain just released the new X Fathoms dive watch that it has been promoting for a while now. Launched in Dubai, the new super diver contains a mechanical depth gauge as well as a few interesting features. One of those is a retrograde five minute counter on the dial that is always running. This is meant to be used for measuring decompression times. No other diving watch in the world has ever looked like this.According to Blancpain the mechanical depth gauge (which can measure up to 90 meters of depth) is the most accurate one in the world. Other brands such as IWC and Jaeger-LeCoultre have watches with mechanical depth gauges. The gauge has two hands to indicate the current depth and a maximum depth reached during that dive hand. Blancpain says one of the major innovations involves the way the depth meter works. Water enters the hex grill on the back of the watch and interacts with a flexible metal membrane. Sounds interesting. Don't miss that the dial also has the time. In one of t

AP service cost/duration VS PP? - Random curiosity.
I know the AP service can set you back by 3K at times from what i've read on here (don't personally own one - yet), however I am curious if servicing an AP costs pretty much the same as servicing a PP.The 15202 vs the 5711 for example. Also, how about the duration. I know PP can take up to 5 months sometimes, is this also the case with AP?Finally. Has anyone ever had a full bezel replacement on his AP? Curious how much that would set you back. Thanks for the info guys.
