Hong Kong Watch & Clock Fair 2012: We'll Be There
One of the most interesting watch fairs in the world is the Hong Kong Watch & Clock Fair?(put on by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council). Celebrating its 31st year, the 2012 fair will run from September 5 - 9 at the Hong Kong Convention Centre. This year aBlogtoReadwatches-dealer will be there, checking out the "world's biggest timepiece event." Is it bigger than BaselWorld? I will let you know. BaselWorld is rather massive and I've never actually been able to see it all. I am calling for recruits to help me divvy up next year's event. Serious horological explorers can contact me.Hong Kong is really one of the major centers of the watch world, for a number of important reasons. China is the largest manufacturer of watches and watch components. Most people know that many Swiss brands rely on Chinese suppliers for everything from cases and straps to boxes and presentation displays. Hong Kong is also one of the world's most active watch buying centers. The Hong Kong Watch & Cl
Daydreaming about PCCs again...
As between 5970G and 5970J, which do you prefer and why?A few personal thoughts:1. 5970J appears to have been the least produced having been in production for only 1 year and with approx. 450 produced vs. approx. 850 of the 5970G.2. Yellow gold feels more vintage and timeless. White gold is more versatile and may stand the test of time better. 3. Yellow gold might have more character as opposed to white gold. What happens if you inherit or getting it as a present - i talk about already registered watches-.thanks

Thinking about a Cashmere.
Super jubilee discontinued. Why?
When Rolex released the new Datejust 36 this year at Baselworld much to my disgust they have decided on using a sporty oyster clasp on the jubilee bracelet just like the DJ 41 and new jubilee GMT Pepsi and are phasing out the beautiful super jubilee. Why oh why are they making dress watches with sports watch clasps on them it baffles me and makes them look worse IMO. In my mind a Datejust jubilee should have a beautiful continuous bracelet just like the presidential. So I've been wanting a Datejust 36 for many years now and because of Baselworld and those new TT DJ's with that new clasp I decided I needed to get myself a super jubilee before the SS ones are updated next year. So yesterday I went to my local AD in the UK and purchased a stainless steel and fluted bezel 116234. The salesperson told me this is the last one they have and they have now been discontinued already! (even though a replacement wasn't even announced this year) and Rolex won't let them order any more in.I would lo
