Pilots watch double chronograph edition Le Petit Prince
“If you please, draw me a sheep!” The blonde hero and the poetic humanist masterpiece written in 1943 by the French writer and aviator have been immortalised by the author's posthumous youth charity, FASEF. The watchmaker IWC has been sponsoring the charity for years by designing special editions just like this 44mm pilot's watch. The minute (at 12), hour (6) and small seconds (at 9) counters weave together in the heart of the midnight blue dial. The overlapping circles are dominated by the eye-catching jumping star display for the day of the week: seven stars representing the seven planets Le Petit Prince visits on his journey whose names are listed on the back of the steel case. A large vertical date display lies at 3 o' clock. The hours and minutes are presented as large numerals and indices beneath leaf-shape luminescent hands brought to life by a self-winding movement. Price: 12,100CHF
15202 and 15400 difference?
Can someone post a pic of the 2 side by side please...I've been looking at this piece for a while and, other than dial color, is there anything significant (e.g. improved movement, etc.).AP novice so thanks in advance for the info!
Aqua Terra Incoming
Latest addition. I've maintained the Aqua Terra is not only Omegas best looking watch but possibly the best looking watch in modern mass-produced watchmaking. To me, it's perfect.I've owned the grey dial but the opaline has a certain something that makes it sporty and classic at the same time
Speedmaster Chronograph
I've just been to a local AD looking at Speedmasters and Seamasters.A very helpful assistant came along and we got talking. After some mooching around he offered me a Speedmaster Chronograph (which I presume wasn't a Professional as it wasn't mentioned on the dial) for the discounted (10%) price of 1890.It's 38mm I believe (or maybe 40mm ?) and has a tachymetre and on the case back it says that it's ok to 100m/330ft.It has the 2500 (Valjoux 7750) movement and yes, it is a bit noisy I thought for a first try that wasn't too bad a price. Could somebody enlighten me further? Also what differences are there between that and the 300m/600m ones? (Apart from the depth!)Am I missing anything major? I'm new to Omega's.They had the newer ceramic Seamasters which are a little bit chunky. They are very glossy looking though - niiiiiice! Many thanks.EDITActually I've been reading some more and as the layout on the one I've seen has the sub-dials at 6-9-12 I believe this is the 1164 movement, rather t
Best source for dating your Omega?
Reason I ask is I've looked at two different sites, and both show different approx' manufacture dates for the same serial number, and they're about 5 years apart! Serial is 77******, and Roman Hartmann dates it as 2000/2001, while an austrailian site - clockmaker.au/rolex_serial_numbers.html - dates it as 2005/2006... Any idea as to who is correct. Watch is a Speedmaster Pro.
