Praesto Modern Fliegeruhr Aviator Watch Coming Soon
I think a revolution in watch making is finally due. The being the official legitimate entrance of the quality Chinese watch maker. "But the Chinese have been making watches, and watch parts for years" you say. Yes, but how many Chinese watch brands do you know of? Just a scant few. Sea-Gull is one of them, but really who else that you'd take seriously? Over the last few years some of the major Chinese watch makers who have been making the parts in other popular watches have decided that they need to get into the game of having their own brands. It is a totally novel concept for them because most Chinese watches are labeled as something else. Be it a legitimate foreign company or a knock-off of something else. The next obvious step for China is to have more actual brands that non Chinese people want to buy. These fledgling companies still have a lot to work out, but here is a timepiece from a new brand called Praesto that I think you'll really enjoy, the modern looking Praesto Fliegeru
Help Me Understand Audemars Piguet
I seriously do not get it. Particularly their sports models. I've looked at their watches and find them to be visually fine, although not exceptional (the bolted stop-sign bezel is not attractive at all IMO) and I'm sure they run every bit as reliably as most Swiss movements, but I just do not get them at all. When I see a Royal Oak for sale on one of the sites, it will be going for something like $35,000.....used!Someone please explain.
5960p pt 2, Wristshots

The Ref. 5101P Patek Philippe
This weekend whilst in Bahrain we went to a jewellery and watch exhibition. On the Patek stand they had the Ref.5101P Ten day power reserve tourbillon. I asked the guys on the stand where it was as I'd never seen one. To my surprise and without hesitation, they took it out of the armour glass display and placed it in my hand. What a beauty!! The price as far as I can work out is 175,000!!! Brenda said I couldn't have it so I had to hand it back. I don't have any pictures because last year I went to the same event and almost got arrested for photographing jewels. Here's a link to an article on the watch. .thepurists/brandjpg/pp/sihh03/
Should I trade my PAM for a SubC?
I've been progressively moving up the food chain since getting bit by the watch bug and recently purchased a PAM 510 from my local AD. It was my first luxury piece and certainly the most expensive to-date. I've never owned a Rolex and at the time I picked up the PAM I was considering either it or the SubC date, ultimately going with the PAM as it had been a desire for a long while and at the time felt the look better fit my style (I've always considered myself more on the raw/edgy side as opposed to reserved/classy). Fast forward a few months and now the Sub is keeping me up at nightCsomething about it's timeless appeal. I also struggle with strap fit throughout the day and love the idea of the glide-lock clasp. Ugh. Im also romanticized by and very seriously considering going down the 1-watch road, mostly because I'm growing tired of the dissonance I feel when choosing which to wear each morning. Im not sure I could do it with the PAM as it lacks a date and isn't as versatile imo. I'm
