Opinion on steel or leather for speedy pro !
Hi All,So I narrowed it down to either:311.33.42.30.01.001 or 311.30.42.30.01.005.Here is my opinions and PLEASE let me know what you all think.Steel -- Little more expensive / and i can always grab a brown / black leather strap from Hodinkee and be perfectly fine with changing in and out. Am I going to wear the steel band more than the leather? I feel like i won't - What do you guys all do?Leather -- $300-$400 cheaper and I can get which strap I want. But I really don't know if I would like the steel anyway on this watch.Does anyone else like the steel band on the speedy pro? Leather more? Please advise! LOL.Much appreciated.Nick
First Patek and what to get
Hello All,Pretty new to the forum and looking to add a PP to my current collection below (I couldn't get the AP to fit in the attachment size...) Other than these I also have a Lange 1 time zone in service right now. I'll also be getting an 1815 AC as well as I absolutely just love LangeI'm thinking of trading both the AP and the Skydweller (which I only got less than a month ago) as they all seem a bit too large on my small wrist. As for the PP, I'm debating which of the Nautilus line to get, 5711 while I know is absolutely brilliant, but just seems a bit too plain for me. My father has a 5712 so I don't think I'll get the same one. Currently it's between the 5726 and the 5990 both on bracelets. Appreciate you guys' opinions and please help me choose either one and which color dial.Cheers!
Hello aquanaut
Well I caved. Here is my 5167A courtesy of George at govberg. Thanks to ken for the help and of course George for the excellent service. Better pics will come in due time : )
Patek AD Paris
I was at the Patek AD in Paris today. All I can say. It was the best retail watch experience of my life. That shop is first class. I have never had an experience even close in the US. Unfortunately, their selection was depleted due to the volume of product they move. I was there for an hour and they sold 12 watches! I was looking for the 5980. They had one left with a very minor hair line scratch. They refused to sell it to me. They said that the insurance covered it and they were only using it as a display. Once the watch went out of production they would send it back to the Patek's museum for display. They took my info and told me they would call me when the next one came in in a month or so. When I say small hairline, I mean barely visible to the naked eye. Also, if you want a Patek, 1.23 Euro makes them more reasonable in Europe right now (for a Patek) especially after the 16% VAT refund. You can buy in EU right now for much less than at an AD in the US.
