My First Grail Watch: Serge Michel Of Armin Strom
Welcome back to an original watches-dealer feature, "My First Grail Watch." In this series, we ask prominent people in the watch industry about the first timepiece that they lusted after. Today, we're speaking with Serge Michel, who is the owner of Armin Strom, an independent watch brand that we've featured on these pages quite a bit.watches-dealer (ABTW): Who are you, and what is your relationship to the watch industry?Serge Michel (SM): Serge Michel, Owner of the independent watch brand Armin Strom.ABTW: When did your fascination with watches start?SM: As a child, being one of the first Swatch-Club collectors. I asked my parents for my first watch at 6 and, by the age of 10, I owned about 12 models. I would wear a favorite for a few months and then be ready for a new one. Of course, the one with the transparent case back was my most favorite.ABTW: What was your first grail watch?SM: That's hard to say, as I've fancied so many watches over the years. Right now, it's the Jaeger-LeCoult
I did the inevitable, burned a hole in my pocket again...
I did it again... Wasn't really interested in this piece at first due to the heft, but after seeing it on the wrist of a certain AP CEO here in HK and him taking it off for me to try again, I did the inevitable....Every time, I tell myself to stop buying, it just doesn't happen...I must say though, it's growing on me every second... The tantalum and rose gold is a great match this way. Not over blingy!
1970 Breitling 2110 Chrono-Matic
I just got this. Love the size and the weight. I cant believe that i never considered this before. The watch looks really nice. The serial is 1.333 million. Which manufacture year does that align with? Does it look all original? How does the second hand look? The second hand seems long.Which strap did this come on originally? If a leather strap where can i get the buckle? Are the lugs 19 or 20mm?
The Hunt Produced a BNIB... FINALLY
I will start by saying thank you to the forum for really putting this watch on my radar. Truly you guys take fantastic photos and allow us to see these watches in there true glory. Ok forget the formalities, let's begin.Late December I made the decision I wanted a BBN 79220N and I would get it no matter what! So I called every single Tudor dealer with no luck. Literally everyone more than one time with some. Then I figured I would have to wait and pay what I thought was a fair markup via trf. The one that I found here was from an unestablished seller. It didn't feel right and I just couldn't get comfortable so I let it go. Thankfully another forum member did the deal and happily has that watch along with the rest of his colossal collection, salute sir! Then I found 2 used at fair prices from established sellers but even after contacting within an hour of the posting they were always sold. Then there was a forum member who had located one and I contacted him immediately. He ended u
Tudor Prince Date Chrono Leather Strap Thickness?
For those of you with the Tudor Price Date Chrono (model 79260 and it's bezel variants) with the leather strap endlinks...........what's the thickest strap you have been able to fit at the lugs without the endlinks getting in the way?The factory tudor leather strap is quite thin where the springbar holes are in the strap, and then it gets thicker. Most aftermarket straps are quite thick at the springbar holes (most Hirsch straps are 4mm to 4.5mm) and I'm curious if they fit.I had a Tudor Hydronaut rubber strap and tried to install it on my Tudor chrono but the strap was too thick to fit. Unfortunately, I sold the strap without measuring it so I can't even use that measurement as a baseline.Thanksjames
