The Straps they are'a changin'!
So after several attempts to acquire a black rubber divers' strap for my AP, I finally succeeded on my third or fourth attempt. Several have come up for sale on the forum and they were selling almost as soon as they were posted. I am amazed at how utterly the strap changes the look of the watch. The black numerals really pop on a dial that now looks really white. Pics don't do it justice but I have a new love for my ROO. Also, with a rubber strap, I can now wear it to work!
Just added a third AP...

My Submariner Story
As a kid I would go to D.C. on school field trips and we would buy fake Rolexes. I was drawn to them because of the unique Cyclops date and the fact that maybe you could fool someone in to thinking it was real. As I grew older and graduated college I remember being on the subway on the way to the US Open with my Dad and seeing a guy (not much older than I was at the time) wearing a Black SS Submariner. The watch was perfect. It was luxurious but not too formal. It was sporty but not too casual. It was a Rolex but not as ostentatious as the all gold ones you would see Gordon Gekko type people wear. I began to wonder if it was fake or how did he get the money to buy that if it was real, more importantly just how far off his lifestyle was from mine. I didn't have hardly any money at the time and the thought of buying a Rolex could not have been more foreign. It made me want to be in the position to buy that watch and I knew if I worked hard enough I could. Years went on and I saw
DJ41 on leather???
Anyone out there with pics of the DJ41 on a leather strap? I've narrowed down the dial to either the rhodium or silver to add a lighter colored dial to my otherwise all black dual collection. Love the jubilee bracelet but feel like fluted bezel and jubilee combo is a little on the dressy and blingy side. But fluted and leather combo I think would tone it down a bit. Side note, I actually like the look of the smooth bezel and jubilee combo but feel like the smooth bezel with a strap could be a little bland. So if I were to exclusively keep it on jubilee, I think I would go with the smooth bezel.Anyway, hope there are folks out there that have done this mod and provide me with inspiration.
