SIHH Preview: A. Lange & S?hne Datograph Up/Down
Many collectors consider A. Lange & S?hne's Datograph a must-have timepiece. This newest version, with several enhancements, demonstrates that Lange's engineers can improve on an already-excellent design. The new model features a 41mm platinum case, an extended 60-hour power reserve, a power-reserve indicator, and a proprietary oscillation system. Find wallpaper images inside. When it debuted in 1999, the Datograph was a sensation. The functions, aesthetics, and perhaps above all the movement, generated excitement the world over. A high-resolution image of its caliber L951.1 became desktop wallpaper for collectors wherever the internet reached. The dial, with its instantly-recognizable outsize date and the two bright subsidiary dials, assured legibility and signaled the owner’s appreciation for fine watchmaking. The new Datograph Up/Down embodies these features as well. What meets the eye first is the larger case. The new 41 millimeter size provides added prominence on the
Archimede Arcadia Brown Watch
People looking for a nice looking brown toned watch, that is made well and has a Swiss movement need look no further. With what can only be described as a metallic chocolate-colored face, Archimede's new Arcadia Brown watch shines like a luxury form of rust. Actually, that whole range of browns, maroons, rusts, etccan be very flattering and fashionable. Made in German, Archimede watches have Ickler cases, which are known for attention to detail, quality, and most importantly value. Few brands such as this make their own cases. The Archimede Arcadia is a very classic type of watch from a design standpoint. A face as easy to read an IWC Portuguese, with properly sized hands, and a modern font used for the Arabic hour numerals. The clean inner dial is spiced up a bit via the hour and minute indicators around the periphery of the dial. New here for 2010 is the brown color of the timepiece. The case is in polished steel and is 42mm wide by 10mm thick (very reasonable). It has a sapphire cryst
Custom Black DLC Coated Rolex Watches From Time And Gems
Time and Gems timepieces based out of Los Angeles specializes in the sale of quality pre-owned Rolex watches of all varieties. They have newer models as well as some extremely hard to find vintage models. I got to Visit with the Time and Gems recently to view their massive collection watches as well as to check out their newest project. Over the last few years one of the hottest trends has been modified Rolex watches. These fall into two main categories; the modification of new Rolex watches, and the modification of pre-owned Rolex watches. I currently have a bit more faith in the latter as they are an honest attempt to "breathe new life" into pre-owned models, and because they give Rolex lovers new visions of their favorite timepieces.Modifying Rolex watches is very difficult. People take for granted the highly sophisticated processes that Rolex itself uses to manufacture and perfect each watch. The level of accuracy and quality control that goes into each watch coming out of Montres
A man on the moon
I'm currently reading and thoroughly enjoying A man on the moon by Andrew Chaikin, which provides a fascinating and moving history of the Apollo missions. The author interviewed most of the astronauts from the program and recounts their thoughts and feelings during and after their missions.I'd highly recommend it to anyone with an interest in NASA or the moonwatch. Having reached the point where Apollo XI have safely returned to earth, there have not been that many references to our beloved Speedy Pros, except the fact that they were set to Houston time during the voyage to the moon. I'd always wondered about that, and whether they were synced after sleep periods. It's a great read, if you're after something to pick up next.
One and only Nautilus - Which would it be?
Just a random thread to see what everyone would lean towards if they could only have one Nautilus.Hypothetical situation of course - god forbid Personally would be torn between the 5711 and 5990.The simplicity of the blue dial on the 5711, the understated beauty, it's just perfect. The proportions, complication, and just everything about the 5990 is also just incredible.Slight edge to the 5711 in my case as a one and only nautilus.Perfect only one IMO.You?
