Ulysse Nardin Perpetual Calendar Manufacture Watch
For 2014, Ulysse Nardin continues to move "in-house" by replacing many of its existing watch collections with new ones that include in-house made movements. With the "Perpetual Manufacture" the brand's perpetual calendar movement gets a full in-house treatment. Previously it was a sort of half and half movement combining an in-house module with something like a base Swiss ETA automatic. To debut the fully in-house made perpetual calendar movement Ulysse Nardin will release the first models as a limited edition set.Ulysse Nardin has been making in-house movements for quite a while, but most of them have been in their most high-end watches. This includes their various minute repeaters, tourbillons, and range of exotic high-complication timepieces. Only with the caliber UN-118 (hands-on here) finally released in 2012 did Ulysse Nardin begin to produce in-house made movements for their larger collection of watches. The UN-118 has been complimented but a range of other calibers and for 2014
F.P. Journe Quantieme Perpetuel Watch Exclusive Look
I am just a few miles right now from the F.P. Journe manufacture here in Geneva. Earlier tonight, I saw Francois-Paul and said hello. He doesn't speak much English, but that doesn't stop me from understanding his watches completely. With under 1000 watches made each year, F.P. Journe is not only a boutique watch brand, but a watch brand's watch brand. What I mean by this is that his timepieces are coveted by normal customers as well as watchmakers alike. He has a pretty good thing going right now. If you like watches then you probably like his watches.Seemingly more popular now than ever, are perpetual calendar watches. That makes sense because while complicated, the perpetual calendar is an inherently useful complication. Unlike say a tourbillon or minute repeater, you can rely on accurate calendar data and enjoy not having to correct it. F.P. Journe is no stranger to the "quantieme perpetuel" (perpetual calendar), but this new model might be his most beautiful perpetual calendar watc

Limited edition: better used with papers or grey bnib without?
Title says it all and I'd like your opinion: I've been on the hunt for a LE which does not frequently come up for sale, and located one in very nice condition. It is being sold by the second owner and was bought new from AD in 2011. This is a complete set, with all papers (although no remaining warranty, I believe).Simultaneously, there is a grey market website (for this exercise, assume the website is legit) which has one for sale BNIB, though it comes with boxes and manuals only. Any necessary warranty work would be covered by the grey dealer's warranty, not Breitling's. I would never use this outside warranty, probably sending the watch to BSC if I ever needed any work done. Furthermore, as the website states that the watch comes with boxes and manuals, I'm unsure if the LE certificate would be included, although I see no reason why it shouldn't, since they usually only remove the warranty card. The price difference between these watches would be $1350 (5150 bnib grey and 3800 used c
Is Omega more popular in the UK?
I tend to see more Omegas when I visit London. I've seen women wearing midsize Speedies near Burlington Arcade, lots of PO's in the pubs and on the tube, Bond Seamasters and GMT's everywhere.
