Need info about my patek
I am new to this site and am hoping to find help with a Patek Philippe 2526 I have which has been in my safety deposit box for years. It is a GUBELIN model in 18kt gold with a solid 18kt gold bracelet band. Years ago I had it authenticated and when inspected the jeweler showed me the gold ingot on a track which rotates to automatically wind the watch. I am now getting on in my years and am considering selling it but am by far no expert or collector just have a few watches I put away years ago. I also have a rolex submariner 18kt gold with a 18 kt gold diver band which I will be asking for help on the rolex thread. All info would be gratefully appreciated and I will attempt to upload pictures if I am allowed due to my being new to this blog. Thanks to all.Larry (bullstone) Stone
WG Pepsi 116719BLRO Now exclusive
In my humble opinion Rolex have made a genius move here and have made a huge gesture to owners of the previous WG Pepsi! Why? Few reasons - 1. Interest in the new Pepsi steel will be similar - if not more intense - than the ceramic Daytona and equally as difficult to get hold of, making the old model with black dial much more desirable, albeit in precious metal.2. The black dial will only be available on the new steel jubilee or on the dis-continued 116719. 3. It looks way better on the Oyster bracelet and buying WG will be the only way to own it on one (for now anyway).4. A relatively short and limited run of 116719BLRO will make it a collectors piece - further enhanced by the desirability of the new and scarcely available steel model.5. The RED time zone hand has been removed from the new WG with blue dial version making the old version with black dial unique.Time will tell but I think current owners of the 116719BLRO should be rubbing their hands together. 114060 swap with 16710 Pepsi?
Was recently offered a trade for my 114060 mint from Dec 2016, for a year 2000 16710 faded Pepsi with an extra Coke insert. The watch is almost a full set, missing just the warranty card (long past warranty by now), but does have service papers from Nov 2017. Owner says the watch is unpolished, although I have not yet seen it in person. I've never quite been a fan of the Pepsi GMT, but would like to gather the collective opinion on TRF if this is a sane trade? I have two 114060s (one is still BNIB), so this opportunity seemed tempting. Or are there better trades out there?Thank you TRF family.
Just found an old receipt
In spring 1990 I ordered a SS sub date from an AD in Reading-UK who said they would remove the cyclops with a guarantee to do it ok. (I live in the non-cyclops department and my eveyday wear is a 114060) see here.... I had the phone call after 2 weeks back in 1990 and meandered my boney-ass down town to collect. I arrived to find a very apologetic Store Manager. He was gushing with embarrassment and told me that they had ordered the wrong model and had received a Sea Dweller instead. Would I be happy to take the Dweller at the same price of the Sub less ?100 with a ?300 store gift voucher! the papers I have show the MSP at ?1,697.So my Dweller T25 cost me ?1297 . I sold to a smashing collector when my divorce was strangling me.....now rebuilding a new life and collecting again
