Zenith El Primero 410 Watch: Another Ode To The Past
Not willing to let the rather svelte grey Zenith El Primero 410 Limited Edition get that sweet movement all to itself, Zenith has launched another new 410 model which features a silver sun ray dial. The new Zenith 410 ref 03.2091.410/01.C494 shares most of its design and technical attributes with the 410 LE we showed you back in October. With a 42mm steel case and sapphire on both sides, the 410 forgoes the contrasting white-on-grey coloring and star markers at two and ten seen on the limited model, opting instead for uniform silver dial design.The silver dial and the blued steel accents make for a very attractive variation that seems a bit more reserved than the previous 410. Obviously still powered by the El Primero 410 movement, this El Primero still receives the 36,000 vph rate, column wheel-chronograph as well as triple date and moonphase complications. Return Of American Made: RGM Brings Back A US Made Watch Movement, The Caliber 801
It has been a long while indeed since any mechanical watch movements have been made in America. Sure there are high quality American watch companies such as RGM, Kobold, Hamilton, Ball, and various small operations such as the Bozeman Watch Company and Ryser Kentfield, but buy mostly Swiss made movements and special parts. It was probably Hamilton that last made mechanical watch movements 30-40 years ago.As an art almost lost in America, it took Roland Murphy of RGM watches to re discover watch movement making. To that extent, RGM is releasing the first American made watch movement, the Caliber 801, in a new line of watches to be available soon. The movement is a highly decorated, attractive three hand movement with a subsidiary seconds. It features 19 jewels and is manually wound. My new and only Breitling addition
Just added this to my watch collection. The navitimer was one of my grails. Just sent it out to Breitling USA to have it completely Over Hauled. I want it back in Like new condition. It was in 8.5 out 10 when I purchased it. I also bought OEM watch straps: 2 crocodiles brown and black. Also 3 calf leathers navy, golden brown and dark green. Expensive to say the least for those accessories.Navitimer D23322 Blingy. The straps are to dress it down and make it a bit understated when need be. I also have my Rolex 116610 subC. My goal is to collect Iconic watches from top brands. It took me awhile to buy this Breitling cause I was looking for a good value in the brand. I didn't want to buy new because I want the most BANG for my Bucks! This was in great condition and it was on the more expensive two tone bracelet.

Panerai Service - Worst of Them All?
My Pam 356 (Daylight) is roughly 6 years old now. I had it serviced at 3 years, because it was losing time. I sent it in, and upon getting it back, it has a SEVERLY scratched bezel. I cried foul, especially given that they made NO mention of it during the servicing. We went back and forth, finally they agreed to replace the sapphire crystal for the cost of the part only. Gee, thanks. Just a hair under 3 years later, it’s losing over an hour a day. In what world is this acceptable? I sent it in, they recommended another full service. I wear this watch the least, preferring my IWC Porteguiser and Rolex BLNR over the 44mm monster. Have any of you had similar service experiences? At $700 a service, I’d expect a hell of a lot better and longer. My 20 year old Breitling does better.

My 1999 Rolex Submariner date
About three months ago, I purchased a 1999 Submariner date from an estate sale. The owner was an older gentleman who had quite a watch collection. He was selling a few other watches and I noticed that they all come with services records. Come to find out that the sub was never serviced. It keeps pretty good time but gains around six minutes a month. The watch also looks great save for a tiny crack in the pearl on the bezel. I don't go diving with it and visually the tiny water proofing bands on the crown look ok. Should I be worried and run out to service it or just enjoy it since it seams to be doing fine. Soon it will be 20 years old without a service or a polish.
