Linde Werdelin SpidoLite SA Skeleton Dial
Launched in 2006 by Morten Linde and Jorn Werdelin, Linde Werdelin watches bring together Swiss watchmaking and innovative Danish design and technology. The company specializes in producing small watch series between 22 and 222 pieces for each model. For 2010 Linde Werdelin is launching a new series called SpidoLite, one version of which offers something special: a NOS (new, old stock) A. Schild caliber 1876 movement modified by renowned Danish watchmaker Svend Andersen.Andersen is a legend in watchmaking circles. In 1969 he was dubbed Watchmaker of the Impossible at the Montres & Bijou show for his clock in a bottle – essentially a large pocket watch movement with dial assembled inside a glass bottle with a narrow neck (the dial was made in strips linked together inside the bottle). The achievement took Andersen to the complications department at Patek Philippe where we worked with the company's most accomplished watchmakers. In 1979 Andersen opened his own workshop, and
IWC Gets Bored; Rebrands A Top Gun Automatic Chronograph Watch To A Limited Edition For the German National Football Team
Lets not use the term recycling, but that is pretty much what IWC is doing right here. But this happens a lot, and if there was a watch to release, this would be the one. The IWC Pilots Watch? Chronograph Automatic Top Gun Edition was a really nice, and really desirable watch. Forget the movie tie in for a moment, and look at its handsome instrumental good looks, nice color contrast, and complex functions with the double chronograph. Apparently it did not matter to IWC that Top Gun actually game over 20 years prior to releasing the watch, there could be NO OTHER military plane related movie that would suffice. It was, and still is a very nice watch, and the world is ready for some derivatives!Well, the IWC Ref. IW371803 is a newish version of the IWC Top Gun. Its actually not fair to call it an exact copy. It does not share the titanium and ceramic case, but rather has a steel case. The most notable change is the dial colors, which are more exciting this time and probably relate to the
The Value Proposition: The Unbreakable Allure Of The Rado DiaStar Original
One of the interesting things about watch collecting is that it has all sorts of little archipelagos of design and mechanical innovation to be discovered, once you branch off from better-traveled territory. One of the most interesting watches of the late 20th century is, to me, also one of the less appreciated, for various reasons (more on that in a minute) and it’s a watch that says a great deal not only about shifting tastes, but also about the march of technology and how it’s affected what we expect from watches right down to the present day. That watch is the Rado DiaStar. The DiaStar is probably the single most memorable vintage Rado watch – the company brought out the first one in 1962, the year of (among other things) the Cuban Missile Crisis, and the debut of Dr. No. At first glance it is very much a watch of its time – there were (and are) many different models, but the ur-DiaStar has an immediately recognizable shape. The case is oblog, framing a round
AP 15450ST Concerns?
I've had a 15300 before and kinda regret selling it. However the bracelet always felt a tad too wide for my 6,3 wrist. Been researching about this 15450 but had some fears that it would be too small, bracelet too dainty, hard hit on the resale value bla bla bla. Today I pulled the trigger on a white dialed 15450st. It is none of what I feared it would be. It is not too small and bracelet fit was amazing. It wears almost like my 39mm explorer 1. So you folks who has been considering this size but had fears and concerns, dont worry. This 15450 is a timeless piece done right. Unless of course you're 7 foot tall with 7 wrist. But yea I'll post some pics that hopefully might enable some of you to grab one too.
