Blancpain CEO Marc Hayek Takes Podium at Silverstone
Blancpain CEO Marc Hayek and driving partner Peter Kox drove their Lamborghini Gallardo to another win in the Super Trofeo auto racing series at the historic Silverstone (UK) road course last weekend. The fourth event in the series took place within the context of the British F3/GT Championship. Renowned for its varied race course enabling top speeds of 190+ mph, Silverstone welcomes all kinds of competitions throughout the year including the MotoGP, Superbike and World Aerobatic championships. To celebrate the championship racing series, Blancpain introduced the 300 piece limited edition Super Trofeo flyback chronograph at Basel this year. The 43.5mm DLC case houses a NAC-treated Caliber F185 movement with black mainplate and bridges. The 308 part manual winding movement provides hour, minute, small seconds and date display at 6 o'clock, as well as chronograph indications with a central sweep seconds hand, 30-minute counter at 3 o'clock and 12-hour counter at 9 o'clock, and of course
Breguet Type XX Aronavale Limited Edition Watch For 2010
Breguet's famous Type XX watches are among the first high-end timepieces that I fell in love with back in college. I couldn't afford one then, and I still don't have one today, but the dream of owning one of the Breguet "Type" aviator style watches remains strong. They come in a few varieties, such as the Type XX, Type XXI, and the newer (and sort of silly) Type XXII.50 years ago Breguet delivered to the French Naval Airforce 500 Type XX Aronavale watches made on special order. Actually, they were ordered in 1958, but it took Breguet 2 years to make all the pieces. The French Naval Air force (known as the Aronavale), wanted easy to ready flight watches with flyback chronograph functions. Still to this day, all Breguet Type XX watches have a flyback chronograph. The watch had a special engraving on the back which read: Breguet Marine Nationale Aeronautique Navale." According to Breguet, the watches were still being used in service by pilots until the early 1980s (and collector's love
Follow A. Lange & Sohne At SIHH In Real Time
Today I am at SIHH here in Geneva. But most of you are not. Too badAs part of luxury watch brands further embracing the Internet, they are welcoming modern times by live blogging at the event. Finally, the Internet is their friends. How far we have come in just a few years. In addition to other brands such as Jaeger-LeCoultre, my favorite German luxury watch brand A. Lange & Sohne (the grail watch for many) will live blogging from SIHH 2010. To be honest I am not 100% sure what this will entail, but it believe it means sharing what is going on including images and new releases with you all out there. What I do know is that A. Lange & Sohne people will be there live to answer your questions and help you with whatever you need. You'll probably need to be up late at night if you are in the US for this personal attention from their staff. Otherwise I am sure there will be good stuff up for you to check out. In addition to their live blogging at the event (at the address in the link
Would you fix?
I sent my AP in to service for its 3rd year Pressure test. AP was amazing at communicating with me that they received my watch and emailed me photos that showed them having my watch. One thing they pointed out on their report was a deep mark in the bezel. Having never noticed one I asked for a picture of the mark. They sent me one and a quote of $150 to do a laser fill and remove it. I've inspected this watch a million times and never seemed to notice it so maybe it really is just them being picky. I'm torn on if I should leave it or have it fixed since it's already there and not much money.Should I have it fixed?Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
