Watches NEWS
The Watch I Wore The Most In 2013, By Every Single Member Of The HODINKEE Team
Something that we often get asked about are our personal watch buying and wearing habits. ?We spend our days around incredible watches, both old and new, and most of us have dedicated not only our careers but also our lives to understanding and appreciating these timepieces. ?So, for the first time ever, we are going to give you a look into our own watch wearing habits. ?What we did here was ask every single member of the HODINKEE team, from Stephen, to Blake, to Eric, to Will, to Felix and Jason, to Paul, to John Reardon, to Ben, to John Mayer, which watch, out of all the watches they've worn in 2013, they spent the most time with. ?This is a question that is pretty telling about who all of us are as watch lovers, and here are your answers: Felix Scholz - 1982 Tudor Oyster Prince 2 OF 11 When I bought this little Tudor I was initially worried that at 35mm it would be too small for my tastes. Thankfully I was wrong and this guy has become a firm favourite. Its clea
ROO resale
For those of you who have owned and then resold a ROO, how is the resale?I'm considering getting a new ROO Ti and am just thinking about down the road if I end up wanting to sell and something else.
Mixed results with AP Service
Well, I went to pick up my 15300 at the NYC boutique today. While I had been very happy with the fact that AP had agreed to service/pressure test my watch under warranty (which technically had expired a few weeks before i brought the watch to them) I was a little nervous about all the horror stories i had been hearing about AP service.Lo and behold, I went to pick up my watch and found a prominent scratch (albeit not very deep) right on the bezel. Obviously, I was very unhappy about this. To their credit the boutique staff took the watch back without question and will be sending it back to clearwater to be refinished/polished. They also made a point of telling me that the turnaround shouldnt be more than a week. So...am i disappointed? sure. AP should have much stricter quality control. Who exactly is handling our watches and how are there so many stories like this floating around? On the flip side i have to commend them that there were no accusations that I dinged the watch myself, or
Incoming ;-)
Hi fellow Trf-membersA lot of advice, watch-surfing, a little enabling and not a lot of common sense ;-) has finally let me in the direction of my first Patek. Had a trip to Rome, Italy, planed with my two children and by chance I found a mint unworn 5711 blue dial in a shop in Rome I know from before. It's a short flight from Denmark and I go there a couple of times a year to relax, sightsee and enjoy the Roman cuisine ;-)This spring I picked up my first PM watch (116718LN) in Rome so it has been a nice watch-year for me ;-)Tomorrow we are flying to Rome and I'll pickup my new watch in the afternoon if all goes by plan. I have an option on a 5712 but I'm pretty confident that I will be posting pics of a 5711 in the Roman sun tomorrow ;-)Thank for the advice, guidance and not least patience. RegardsAlexander Ps. Feel free posting a picture or two ;-)RegardsAlexander116718LN GN, 116600, 116200, 116610LV
