Christie's Tests Online-Only Watch Auctions
Major auctioneer Christie's is currently running their first ever "online-only auction," "The Essential Watch Collection" These days, we're all accustomed to researching watches online, and then, very likely also buying them online. Major auctioneers have for a long time been trying to get a piece of the "eBay pie," and the plan is to approach the sale of vintage watches online by offering a curated, safe environment where watches are vetted by professionals and available through a trusted source.Christie's isn't outright saying it, but "The Essential Watch Collection," populated with 22 watch lots is a test. For the most part, Christie's wants to determine whether there is a market to sell desirable vintage watches from popular brands such as Rolex, Omega, Patek Philippe and more, online. If so, this would create a lucrative corollary business to their live auction events. Picked up a beautiful Dunhill leather 3 watch roll today.If anyone is looking for a very nice roll at a good price I would recommend this. Took me a long time to find one I like. Carbon look leather, nicely lined, great pad for your watches.Will post some better shots with the team later.

new 116710ln random serial; green AND blue lume?
Hello,This past Sunday, I purchased a new 116710ln with a random serial at a well known AD in Chicago. This was my first, new Rolex purchase. That night, I torched the dial expecting to see green lume all around. At first, I caught a glimpse of blue. Feeling excited, I glanced back at the dial and noticed that all of the hands were glowing green. But, the hour indices were clearly glowing blue.Now, I thought all GMT lume shifted to blue in ~2012-14, not just the hour indices.Is this normal?Tom
