Historical Perspectives: Ten Out Of Production Watches That Offer A Ton Of Bang For The Buck
Last year I put together a list of 10 vintage watches that I genuinely believe(d) should cost more than they do, for a variety of reasons. You can read it here. Today, I will take a look at another sector of watches with the same pervading thought: these watches deserve to be more expensive than they are. But today, I'll be looking at modern, but out of production, watches. What I mean is that these pieces were designed in the modern era, with the help of CAD, and modern production technologies, and in many cases they offer a tremendous amount of watchmaking firepower. But, for some reason, they just don't cost that much (relatively speaking). Here are 10 modern, but out of production watches that offer a lot of horological bang for the buck. 1. Girard-Perregaux Ferrari Chronographe A Rattrapante Foudroyante 2 OF 11 The curse of the Ferrari watch strikes again. This limited edition chronograph dates to when Ferrari was linked up not with Hublot, or Panerai,
Shall I make the trade for my first AP ... 15305
I have been looking at AP's for quite some time, as I do not own one yet. I was initially looking at an AP ROC in rose gold then the day-date in RG. But then, the 15305 open worked skeleton stole all of my attention. I know skeletons are not for everyone, but the artistry behind this watch is simply amazing! I would probably trade my VC Overseas, VC Patrimony, and a third or fourth watch plus cash to make this happen and enter the AP world. Thoughts? For And probablySent from my 16M
Vintage Omega Devilles
Hey guys i was just wondering how many of you own/owned vintage Omega Deville watches. For starters, here is my 1960 calibre 600 in stainless steel.
5070P and 5970 any metal, need your opnions!
dear all, sorry if what I am about to say has been around many times before.I consider the pair 5070 and 5970, in any metal, as a pinnacle .Got the 5070R already. But next step is a little more complicated -- I know of a person that has 5070P and 5970R both BNIB, double sealed. He has also a 3970J. Planning on start a push to trade with him, not sure about outcome yet.My question , now -- is there any sense on trying to get the 5070P ? if so, no way on getting the 5970R or even the 3970J.Also, is the 3970J a good choice, in terms of collectability ? Your opinions are quite valuable for me to narrow my focus.thank you so much in advance best
PAM 372 documents.
I noticed yesterday that the certificate booklet that comes with my used 372 refers to a Radiomir Black Seal on its cover. Should I be concerned?Everything else is perfect. The inside of the booklet looks correct with the case and movement numbers matching and refers to model 372. There is the name of the original purchaser and the stamp of the Panerai boutique where it was originally purchased. It's only the cover that is incorrect. The movement stickers are also present and tie in with movement number. The original cardboard outer box is also present with the correct code. And the watch itself is perfect. I also bought from a reputable dealer who has good feedback on Chrono24 and from whom I have bought before. But I'm paranoid as there are some very good fakes around with fake documents. On the other hand it makes no sense for someone to make such a good fake and then put the name of the wrong watch on the booklet so I am inclined to think there is some mundane reason for this discr
