Video: How Harry Winston’s New Opus XIII Works
As per usual, Harry Winston generated a fair amount of buzz at the 2013 Baselworld watch fair with the latest timepiece in its haute-de-gamme Opus collection. This year’s piece, the Opus XIII, turned heads with its 242 functional rubies and unconventional time indication by means of tiny, pivoting markers around the dial. Developed in cooperation with watchmaker Ludovic Ballouard, who helped develop F.P. Journe’s Grand Sonnerie, the Opus XIII has 11 triangular hour hands, which peek out from a dome in the dial’s center and retract at the end of each hour, and 59 little minute markers (each five-minute marker is red-tipped), which pivot toward the center of the dial as a new minute begins. At the end of the hour, all 59 minute markers pivot back to their original position?at once, in a dynamic, wave-like motion, and the process begins again. Speedy Pro needs service, advise needed.
I have an 8 year old Speedy Pro that loses serious time when the chrono is running. Can anyone recommend a watchmaker in the US that can service this for less time and money than Omega?
Service intervals
I just purchased an Omega 2225.80.00 from a coworker. He puchased the watch from a Las Vegas AD in 2008. I provided Omega the serial number and they emailed me back stating the watch was originally sold to an authorized dealer in 2007. The watch is running spot on and I read on Omega's web site that they recommend service at 4-5 years. I am just wondering if I should spend the additional 590.00 for a service at this point since it's working fine, or should I wait until I notice it is not running properly?
5227 as only watch?
Hey guys. I’m looking for a new watch, and first Patek. Currently have a Rolex. But iv’e really fallen in love with the 5227. Could this watch hold up for being a daily “beater”/only watch? I know I will need a new strap now and then. But is the movement delicate? And how often will it need service? I will wear it everyday and have it ingraved for my 2 year old son. :) (hold it for the next generation )Thanks guys!
Rolex & Tudor
