What Are Rolex Oyster Professional Watches? A History
Rolex Oyster Perpetual from 1953What exactly is a "Rolex Oyster Professional" watch? Most Rolex watches produced today use the brand's Oyster case which embodies years of development that started with the original Rolex Oyster watch from 1926. At the time Rolex pioneered the first ever watch case with screw down crown, bezel, and caseback that offered water resistance and dust protection, though it was not until 1953 that the Professional Collection was born. The idea of the Rolex Oyster Professional today is the perpetuation of timepiece models that were originally intended for professional use. That included watches for people engaged in diving, flying, automotive and sport racing, science and industrial work, as well as general planetary exploration. Rolex Oyster Professional watches by nature are more durable and utilitarian in design, and they also have in many instances additional production or testing steps added to their manufacture before they leave Rolex and go out to the cons
Instead of lume...
Was out walking back from dinner tonight wondering how well I could see the lume on my 15300. Turned out I couldn't see the lume at all but the white/silver dial easily caught and reflected very low ambient light from just about any source. Who needs lume when the whole dial catches and reflects light?
Value of Patek
I came across this Patek 5035G. By all accounts it appears authentic. Anyone have an idea what the value would be? Thanks!
My Aquanaut had some cosmetic surgery.
I recently purchased a P/P Aquanaut with a s/s bracelet for the price of one with rubber. After receiving money for my birthday from family and friends l bought a rubber strap and deployment buckle. Changing the strap was pretty straight forward with the right tools. Having one go to getting the rubber strap right can be difficult and time consuming. Both buckles are the same length when open, so using the length of the bracelet as a guide made it easier to a point, where l still made some fine adjustments. Rather be safe than sorry, as l only had enough money to buy one strap.Before:DSC_3389.jpgDSC_3413.jpgAfter:DSC_3827.jpgDSC_3819.jpg
