Reactor Releases Top-Selling Gamma in Titanium
Southern California-based Reactor is introducing their top-selling Gamma watch in titanium. The original Gamma, introduced in 2008, quickly became the brand’s #1 seller. The new titanium version weighs 50% less than the stainless steel model yet features the same 45.5mm case and 300 meter depth rating. The new titanium model also offers Reactor’s exclusive, patent-pending Never Dark illumination, which allows viewing in any light for over 12 years. Never-Dark is a proprietary lighting system that combines intensely bright Swiss Superluminova with long-lasting tritium gas-filled tubes. The Gamma Ti’s K-1 crystal has 4 layers of anti-glare coating to make it easier to read under water. The watch also has a unidirectional timing bezel and a day/date movement with 10-year power cell. Like all Reactors, Gamma Ti features a triple o-ring screw-down crown system for added water resistance, and a secure screw bar case-to-band interface. The Gamma Ti will ship in early March wi
Watch-Lust: Dievas Vortex
The Dievas Vortex is a beast of a watch. Looking something like a mix between a diver's watch, a pilot's watch, a military watch and a support truss from a bridge; the Vortex is clean, bold and striking. At first glance, it appears to have somewhat classic styling, then you notice the harsher than normal angles of the lugs, the thin but purposeful bezel and the 8 o'clock crown, and you realize this is something different And the fun only starts on the surface: the Vortex is a maniacally overbuilt watch. An aerospace grade titanium case, helium release valve, double-gasket screw down crown, domed sapphire crystal with "military grade" anti-reflective coating, 500m dive depth, ETA 2824-2 auto and a waterproof leather band make sure that this watch is built for survival. In their own words "this is a watch designed as a precise time keeping instrument for currently active military, security and rescue personnel, overbuilt to withstand harsh conditions on land, sea and air." So, whether y
Bring a Loupe: The Two World-Class Watches From 1942 That Could Sell Cheap At Next Week's Christ
One of the questions I'm asked most by watch collectors is "what's next?" in the world of vintage watches. We've seen the likes of Universal Geneve and Heuer really climb over the last few years, and Rolex and Patek – well – you know about them already. The two answers that I have been most often giving over the last 18 months or so, at least when talking about high-end vintage watches, is complicated Vacheron and AP's. The quality, the design, and pure, unadulterated watchmaking make these two categories so fun to observe, and the rarity and value make them fantastic places to spend your hard-earned money, in particular relative to vintage Patek. Today I'll take a look at two watches, both for sale in next Monday's Christie's Geneva sale, that are simply divine vintage watches, and could in fact both sell at the low end of estimates simply because, well, they're not Pateks. And that is just silly. Strangely, they both happen to hav
Ouch
Stupid me actually tried using the chronograph on this thing on the first wear after having it in the bank vault for the last while. It now only resets to 2. I'm 18 months out of warranty on this one, so looks like it's going to be an expensive repair? It keeps time fine, but to get it fixed it probably will need a full service?
PP freebies
Hi All,Can't help but notice the recent influx of threads showing Patek freebies I was wondering for those of you who have Patek freebies, did you ask your AD for them or do the AD voluntarily give them to you with your watch purchase?best regards,R
