Baselworld 2014 Preview: New Ladies’ and Men’s Mido Watches
Mido watches have only a cult following in the U.S. but are very popular elsewhere in the world, particularly Latin America. This week, the brand, known for offering Swiss-made mechanical watches at affordable prices, released previews of two new Mido watch models one men’s, one ladies’ debuting at next month’s Baselworld. For the ladies, Mido has released two new models of its Mido Commander Lady collection, which the brand has manufactured continuously since 1959. The Mido Commander Lady Sunray Satinated has a steel case with a rose-gold-colored PVD treatment and a silver dial with a sunray satinated pattern, while the Commander Lady Mother of Pearl has a stainless steel case and an iridescent white mother-of-pearl dial. The case contours of the Mido Commander Lady, as well as the faceted hour markers on the dials, are inspired by the Art Nouveau lines of Paris’s Eiffel Tower, Mido says. (How do you pronounce Mido? New AP Royal Oak Offshore chrono 37mm
Did anyone see this one? It was announced at SIHH 2010. Pricey at $17,000MSRP, but I likey. I think the case thickness measues in the 13mm range. I am a huge fan of the Royal Oak Offshore line, but the 44mm (or maybe 42mm?) case size and thick case was always a turn-off for me. Price wise, some what out of my league. I can always dream or hope for a deep discount in the pre-owned market some day. I found this link while surfing on another watch forum. I hope it is ok to post the link.thesydneytarts.blogspot/2...nomatopia.html
Speedy Tuesday addition?
Just wanted to get some feedback and thoughts on whether to add ST at MSRP to current collection (pic). Would that be too many chronos or too many Omegas? Save up for another Rolex (new Basel release) or up-scale to Patek or FPJ?Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Loud Rotor on Pam1024
Hey guys , I just bought a Pam1024 my first from one of sites that sells preowned and new never worn watches. They are not authorized dealers but watch enthusiasts and collectors. The watch came with everything and a stamped warranty card from a AD in Spain.I noticed that when I hold the watch and spin it around the rotor seems loud. The only thing I have to compare it to is my Bremont and Breitling Super Ocean. They make noise also but not as loud as the Pam1024.Is this normal for the Pam? Thanks in advance.
Buying my first Pam.... A 005
I'm taking the plunge and going to buy my first new Panerai...a Pam005. I'm frugal and looking for a good deal. I know a lot of you will say that finding one in stock from an AD is a good deal in itself, but I'm wondering what kind of discount I should expect. The one I've located has been quoted to be for $4900, that's $500 off of the $5400 retail price. Is this a good price for a BNIB from a dealer? Any insight is much appreciated! Thanks!
