A Week On The Wrist: The Panerai PAM 560 Luminor Base 8 Days Acciaio With The In-House 8 Day Caliber
This is the most stripped-down watch in Panerai’s current collection and it also represents the entry level price into the world of Panerai in-house movements. It’s actually a relatively new movement – the caliber P.5000 was introduced only two years ago and back in 2013, HODINKEE founder Ben Clymer took a look at the watch in which it was introduced: the PAM 510, which has a seconds sub-dial at the 9:00 position. In case you’re not up on Panerai history, the use of an 8 day movement with small seconds is an homage to that history; Panerai used 8-day movements by Angelus in some of its earliest watches (along with Rolex movements based on Cortebert ebauches). 1 OF 7 The PAM 560 is newer than the movement – we saw it for the first time at the 2014 edition of the SIHH, and the feeling we have is that it’s part of a general move across the board to make all Panerai watches powered by in-house movements. Breitling 815 sub dial hand?
Hello gentleman, I recently picked up this Breitling 815 and just noticed a slight variance in the size of the hand in the sub dial at the 6 o'clock. It appears to be somewhat thinner in width than the hands on the other two sub dials. The dials at the 3 and 9 positions have a gradual flare at the top while the hand in question has very little flare. I'm trying to determine if this is correct or if possibly the hands are replacements. If there are any vintage Breitling buffs on here I would greatly appreciate any feedback. Cheers! 👍
Bought a New 44mm SuperOcean
Well I was just looking around my local AD and stumbled onto it. It was the only one in the case and I really like the orange on the dark dial. My wife likes it better than my rolex on me, which really surprised me. I have a smaller wrist and the 44mm size watch fits me very well. I know a lot of Breitlings have a polished band but I really like the brushed band with the sides of the case being polished. I must say that I'm completely happy with the new watch!
First Annual Calender
Hi guys, I've always wanted to get an annual calendar. I think I have a Patek bug as it's the only watch I'd consider. At this point, I'm looking at the 5139 and 5140 (not Plat.). As I don't have a YG or RG watch I'm leaning towards the 5140 more. I'm also interested in 5940J, but couldn't find the MRSP and was wondering if it's the same because they use the same 240Q movement. Also, as an inexperienced PP person, I'm really looking to hear from you guys on your personal experience/opinions on these models. I'm open to alternatives in the same price range (although I'm not sure my AD would have it). P.S. Please spare me the try it on talk.
