Virtually Test Watches On Your Wrist From Home With Tissot Reality
Another major step in making watch stores less relevant. I recently discussed the demise of third party watch retailers here, and a lot of people said that they still like going into stores to try watches on. So while buying timepieces online makes sense from a value and selection standpoint, it is hard to give up actually trying-on, and holding the watch. Well, this new system from Tissot doesn't exactly replace that experience 100%, but makes an awfully convincing case for skipping the store. It is called Tissot Reality, and is a method of using what is known as "augmented reality." The term applies to programs that create visuals over real-life images. Tissot has created a downloadable application that allows you to try out their entire T-Touch collection family of watches from home in your underwear. The system isn't perfect, but the first attempt is really cool. You need to download the software, print out then cut out the watch shaped strap for your wrist, and you must have a webc
Virtual Ideas "Toxic" Linear Time Watch Concept
With linear time indicators that resemble syringes, the "Toxic" watch concept creation by Swiss Virtual Ideas is another neat idea by the watch design firm. Showing time on linear scales means that an indicator moves across a scale and then jumps back once it reaches the end. Look closely and you can see a telescopic arm that moves across the dial with a red strip for the indicator. It moves like a vial filling up or emptying at the arm extends and pushes in the indicator. It would have been cool for it too look like one side of the indicator was filling with a colored liquid. The telescopic arm would be difficult to manufacture but by no means impossible. I like how Virtual Ideas has pushed the envelope of watch engineering limits, but still within the range of possibility. Nevertheless, a watch like this would cost a lot. Recently, I discussed the Urwerk King Cobra watch with a similar liner time concept. The Toxic watch concept features a horizontally long rectangular case with soft
At last....PO...new addition
Finally after the trials and tribulations of nearly being caught with a fake...Bought from authorised omega service centre, the photos don't do it justice, paid a little more than I intended to from the start but I have a 12 months warranty and documentation, it's kept perfect time over 15 hours (using Time is on my iPad) .....just got to get the fit right (took me 3 visits to the AD with my Rolex GMT), to be used for daily wear so that's the collection finished and sorted........yea of course ( my wife's words)😄After 30 years in the waiting.......GMT IIc
LiquidMetal: does it live up to hype?
I currently do not own an Omega, but saw that at least one of their models has a Liquidmetal case. If someone owns one, I would appreciate feedback on scratch resistance and weight compared to Titanium or other metals.I visited the Liquidmetal website and naturally it placed LM above Ti, steel, etc. in all categories. And Apple has made several proprietary contracts with LM, suggesting the iPhone6 or another Apple device will have a LM case. But I was hoping to hear from an owner about the LM properties. And if it is so great, why aren't other major watch makers using it?Thanks in advance.
5711A or AP 15202 (blue dials) to pair with 5712A
I have a 5712A and love it so much that I am trying to add a 5711 (also blue dial). But lately, I am wondering whether the AP Royal Oak 15202ST would be better? Would love to know what you think, and posting this on the Patek forum intentionally as I love Patek and want to make sure the input is from others who do as well. And to be clear, I do not want a 5711 in a white dial, even though that may seem like the obvious choice. Some of my thoughts: The 15202 is more of a different experience than my 5712A compared to what the difference the 5711A would be, and I love the two hand look (but I also like being able to see the movement in action by way of a second hand). Also, as much as I like AP, I prefer Pateks (all things being equal).I am unlikely to sell either, so better resale value, while nice, isn’t a driving force. And obviously, I will be able to get the 15202 much sooner than the 5711, and it is a touch cheaper as well, when purchased new from an AD.All votes and replies a
