Patrizzi & Co. Geneva Auction Brings Over $6.2 Million
In the month leading up to the Patrizzi & Co. auction on October 25, more than 3,500 people visited the house’s web site each day to research items included in the sale. On sale day in Geneva, about 60 bidders were present in the auction room and another 45 participated online. 70% of the 253 lots were sold in two sessions, achieving CHF6,345,600 or about $6,230,525. Bidders from Asia, the Middle East, Europe and the USA were present in the auction room. The top selling brands were Patek Philippe, Cartier, Rolex, and Panerai. Modern pieces from Ulysse Nardin and TAG Heuer also sold very well. Commenting on the sale results, Osvaldo Patrizzi said Today we have seen a change take place in the market. There was a huge amount of enthusiasm in the auction room and this manifest itself in excellent results �C evidently confidence is beginning to return. Pre-owned Speedmasters and Japan
I've been wondering why so many pre-owner Speedmasters for sale seem to be offered by Japan-based sellers?Perhaps it's due to Japanese collectors continuing to feel their country's economic malaise? Maybe is just something more basic as a far greater were sold in Japan. Omega might have a superior image (good marketing) as an up-market image compared to their competitors.Any similar observations from members here, or is it just me?Cheers!

Planet Ocean Date changing problem?
Just had my 4 year-old Planet Ocean (caliber 2500) back from repair (it had stopped, and Omega UK repaired it) and now the date seems not to move forward at midnight. I have now reset the date 4 times over the last 10 days (resetting it at midmorning) to the new correct date, but come the next morning (so 24 hours later) it is still on the same date. Sometimes it changes at midday, other times not at all??Any clues as to what is happening please?Many thanksDavid (UK)

First Patek - grey a good option?
Hello all, long time lurker but recently became a member. Ever since I saw the 5524 online a couple years ago, I was really drawn to the watch. Patek has never really appealed to me (mostly Rolex guy) but something about the size and case shape and design of this model just really struck me. A few weeks ago, I was able to handle and try one on with a colleague who received his (has a handful of Patek and still waited over 3 years to get it). Decided that I'm ready to buy it and called just about every US AD - only to be told that they have long waiting lists and would take a couple years at the minimum but would still be bumped if an existing client wanted it first. Have realized that grey dealer is probably the only way to get it relatively soon. I reached out to a couple TS on here and they are asking 55/56 for the piece (think it retails at 47). I've come to terms with having to pay a premium to get it soon but is that the right price to be buying? I'm not so much worried about resa
