Affordable Vintage: Citizen 52-0110
Seiko seems to get all the love when it comes to vintage Japanese dive watches, but Citizen was also producing some top notch tool divers in the 1970's. One of their most popular divers with collectors today is the now classic model 52-0110. Made in the late 1970's, the Citizen 52-0110 was similar in many respects to its Seiko counterparts, the 6105 and 6309 divers. While the Seiko had some pretty radical case design elements, the Citizen is more classically styled. The large, solid stainless steel case measures a healthy 40mm wide by just over 46mm long and nearly 14mm thick. Large, straight lugs set at 20mm wide give it a sturdy feel on the wrist. The large crown is at 3 o'clock, and screws down for superior water resistance. One nice feature of the crown and tube screw down system is that the threads are large, making it more difficult to accidentally cross thread it and damage it.The dial is a beautiful and functional matte black, with rectangular raised chrome hour markers that are
Jewelry Rep never heard of AP?
I was attending my friends son's bris (ritual circumcision ) this morning and one of our mutual friends is a manufactures rep for several jewelry lines showed me his new 42mm Rolex Explorer with the polar dial. He also has a Bluesy TT so it's not like he is completely watch inept turned to me and asked what was I wearing so I show him my new AP Rubberclad. He says, who makes that? I look at him in semi shock and say its an Audemars Piquet. He says never heard of them.Seriously??? You are in the jewelry biz and are in stores almost everyday and have never heard of AP? Nope he says.Anybody else think this is kind of shocking given the history of the brand? I would figure most people wouldn't know an AP from a Timex but a guy who is in a jewelry store all the time? Are there not that many AP AD's out there that it would be rare to see them?Interesting...
Decided I like white.............
numbers better.
watch winders
Azguy just posted a thread about watch winders which has gotten me thinking that I need to invest in a watch winder. I'd love to say that my Omega will never come off my wrist but I'm not going to beat up my watch and can't wear a metal band on the ship.So do you guys have suggestions for a basic get the job done winder..Thanks,Tim
Newest of 2011 - Planet Ocean
After much debate, I decided to go with the 42.5 - I like the proportions of the dial better than the 45.5. I almost went 45, but aesthetically, I like this one. Something about the size of the minute markers to the negative space on the dial make me like the smaller dial better. And it fits better - who am I kidding. I also put them both next to a DateJust and the 45 made the DJ smaller than I had hoped - I still want a SS DJ, if you can't tell. And I like the matte dial - I always have. I like it better than the LM version, too.Let me know what you think...No unboxing - I don't have that kind of patience. And last - the wrist shot. You can see why I didn't go 45 - my wrists just can't do this one like a Panerai. Those fit - this at 45 didn't.Thanks for looking and thanks for all the earlier comments.Rob
